She tried to scream again, but her voice was muffled by the dirt, by the worms that were now wriggling over her body. It was too much. She couldn't take it anymore.
Eliana opened her eyes to find herself in a magnificent place, unlike anything she had ever seen before. It was a vast white palace, with towering spires and intricate carvings. The walls and floors were made of the purest white marble, and the light that shone from within seemed to come from a source she could not see.
It was as if she was standing in a realm of pure light and beauty, a realm untouched by the darkness of the world she had just left behind. She felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over her, a feeling that she had never experienced before.
As Eliana looked around, she noticed something that made her heart skip a beat. There, standing beside her, was a figure that looked just like her. The figure was tall and regal, dressed in a flowing white gown. Her hair was long and flowing, the color of the purest gold. And her eyes... they were the exact same color as Eliana's own. It was as if she was looking into a mirror, but the reflection was not her own.
It was as if she was looking at her true self, the self that she had always been meant to be.
Before Eliana could even react to the figure's words, a new sight caught her eye. In front of her, sitting on a throne of silver and gold, was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. Her hair was the color of the night sky, and her skin was pale and ethereal. Her eyes were filled with wisdom and compassion, and her gown was made of the finest silk, embroidered with the constellations of the night sky.
She looked like a goddess, like the very embodiment of the moon itself. And Eliana knew, without a doubt, that this was the Moon Goddess herself.
As Eliana knelt before the Goddess, she felt a wave of awe and reverence wash over her. She knew she was in the presence of a being far greater than herself, a being of unimaginable power and wisdom. She knew she must speak carefully, must show the utmost respect. And so, with trembling hands, she spoke.
"O great and powerful Moon Goddess, I bow before you, and beg your forgiveness. I am but a humble mortal, unworthy of your presence. The Moon Goddess regarded Eliana with a kind, yet knowing, gaze.
Her voice was like the sound of a gentle breeze, soothing and comforting. "Rise, child, and stand before me. There is no need for apologies, for I do not judge you. I have brought you here for a reason, and I wish to speak with you."
Eliana rose to her feet, her heart still racing, her hands still trembling. She stood before the Goddess, feeling as if she was standing on the edge of a great precipice, her fate hanging in the balance.
The Goddess smiled, her eyes twinkling with a mischievous light. "No need for such formality, child. You may call me Luna, for that is the name by which I am known. And you, child, I sense that you are Elaine, yes?"
Eliana nodded, speechless at the Goddess's knowledge. How could she have known her name without her ever speaking it?
"Do not be surprised," Luna said, as if reading her mind. "I know many things, things that may seem impossible to mortals. But enough of that, for now.
"I have seen the hurdles, challenges or shall I say the troubles your mate has caused you. You shall be over it soon. I have heard your cries, I saw your tears, I listen to your worries."
The moon goddess said.
Eliana's breath caught in her throat. She had always believed that her prayers went unheard, that her pain and suffering were meaningless in the grand scheme of things. But now, she knew that the Moon Goddess had been watching her, had been listening to her. Tears welled up in her eyes, but this time, they were tears of gratitude.
"Thank you, Luna," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "It is such a relief to know that I am not alone, that you have been there with me through it all. But I don't understand, why have you brought me here?"
I have answered your prayers and your wishes. You have asked for peace and I shall give you peace. You have asked for happiness, and you shall be happy. You have asked for a new life, and it shall be granted to you, beloved." The moon goddess stated. Eliana's heart leapt in her chest.
A new life? Could it be possible that the Goddess would grant her such a thing? She felt as if she were dreaming, as if this could not be real. But as she looked into Luna's eyes, she knew that it was no dream. The Goddess was offering her a second chance, a chance to start over, to leave the past behind.
"But, what about my mate?" she asked, her voice trembling. Eliana didn't dare look into her eyes.
"Your heart reeks of revenge, but I want you to make corrections to your mistakes. You have been given a chance to feel the mate bond again for the second time. But your mate in this second life of yours will be least expected." said the moon goddess.
A second chance at the mate bond? It was more than Eliana could have ever hoped for. But the Goddess's words about making corrections to her mistakes gave her pause. What did she mean by that? And who could her mate possibly be, if it was not the one she had known before?
Eliana's mind was racing, trying to make sense of the Goddess's words. Finally, she found the courage to look up, to meet Luna's gaze.
