Alexi
I'm hyperventilating in the bathroom and I think I might need a doctor. I can feel my cheeks getting hot and tears from embarrassment well up in my eyes. He's a freaking virgin, and he was just going to let me take his virginity right then and there. Seriously.
When he said he'd never done anything like that before, something dangerous fluttered in my stomach at the thought of him trusting me enough to be his first. But that's not how I want it to happen. I know there is no such thing as a perfect first time, but it definitely shouldn't happen after having a major fight not even three hours ago.
I felt bad for running out on him like that, especially after he shared something so intimate and personal with me. It was a reflex. I hope I didn't hurt his feelings.
I looked at myself in the mirror and squared my shoulders. If this relationship was going to work, we would have to stop running out on each other every time things got awkward or heated. I could tell that our relationship was going to be filled with little arguments. We both seemed very strong-willed and hard-headed.
I walked out of the bathroom to find the room empty, which was pretty much what I was expecting. A pang of guilt hit me right in the chest. He probably thought I ran away because he was a virgin, which in a way I guess I did, but not in a bad way. I sighed I needed to find him. I quickly changed into some pajama sweats and a tank top. It was rather late already.
I threw on some slippers and exited my room. I didn't actually know where I was going, so I just started walking up the stairs until, hopefully, I crossed paths with someone who could tell me where to go.
Luckily, I didn't have to wait long because I ran right into a woman carrying a basket of clothes. "Sorry," I said, helping her pick up the clothes that spilled onto the floor. "Oh my, it's quite alright, Luna," she said, barring her neck to me. Okay, that was new. I guess if I wanted a relationship with Ashton to work, I would have to get used to people calling me Luna and treating me like I was royalty.
"Umm, I was wondering where I might be able to find Ashton," I asked. "The Alpha should be in his office right up there, second door on the right," she said, pointing up to the third floor. Dear goddess, how many floors does this place have? "Thank you so much," I said as I walked past her.
By the time I found his office, I was out of breath and disoriented. I didn't even knock, I just walked in. His eyes shot up from where he was sitting behind his desk. He saw it was me and frowned, making me feel guilty all over again.
"Hey," I said, unsure of what to say. "What do you want?" He asked, avoiding my eyes. "Can I sit down? I'm exhausted from climbing up all those stairs", I laughed awkwardly, pointing at the couch he had along the wall. His office was mostly white with light pastel colors decorating the space. The couch was pastel green with pastel yellow pillows, one white pillow with the word blessed across it and a regular white chair on the other side of his desk, probably for meetings.
"Why didn't you take the elevator?" he asked. "THERE'S AN ELEVATOR" I yelled. He stared at me for a moment before throwing his head back and laughing at me. His laugh was carefree and melodic. I was glad to hear him laugh even if it was at my expense. "I'm glad my misery amuses you," I said, laughing with him.
He abruptly stopped laughing and turned his cold eyes onto me. I stopped laughing. He sighed and motioned me to sit down.
"Look, I um I wanted to apologize for running out on you earlier," I said. He sighed. "It's fine, I understand it's probably for the best. I mean nothing real could actually ever happen between us," he said as he pushed away from his desk and stood up. "And why is that," I asked. He looked at me shocked.
"Well, it's obvious you don't want me and, well, I'm not sure if I could ever truly trust you," he said. "Well, one you don't even know me yet and two I never said I didn't want you."
"You ran out of the room," he said accusingly. "Yes, and I'm sorry about that you caught me off guard," I said defensively. He stared at me, looking suspicious. I raised my eyebrows, questioningly "What," I asked. "I can't tell if you're being real or not," he said. I sighed. "Look, I really am sorry for running out on you and I don't have a problem with you being a virgin, but I don't think it's smart for us to jump into the sheets when there are obviously a lot of issues and hostility here," I said, motioning between us.
He continued to stare at me without saying anything, so I continued, "Look, we're fated and unless you plan on rejecting me right now, we're going to have to figure out how to get past all this mistrust." "I don't want to reject you," he said quietly. I smiled. "Right then I think the only thing to do then is get to know each other properly."
"How do you suggest we do that?" he said with a sigh. Hmm, I hummed. Thinking well, "How about we go on a date I'm going to need a tour of your packlands anyway if I'm going to help, so how about you take me out and show me around?"
His eyes widened, and I swear he blushed a little. "We have a meeting tomorrow with all the pack leaders to go over the issues with the vampire king" he mumbled, fixing an already perfect stack of papers. "Well, we could go out after," I said, c*****g my head to the side to try and see his face.
He huffed and turned around, folding his arms and fixing me with an intense stare. "Shouldn't I be the one asking you out?"
I rolled my eyes. I was three-hundred years old, and I even thought that was a little old-fashioned for the twenty-first century. "You wolves and your macho-ness," I said, getting up from my spot on the couch. "So is it a date" I asked. He scratched the back of his neck and he definitely blushed that time. "Sure I guess, yeah." "Gee, thanks for sounding so excited".
"Okay, now that this has been settled," I said, clapping my hands together. "We're going to need to set some rules." His eyes widened for a second, then he relaxed and sighed.
"Well, one, don't call me a sl*t because you don't know me," I said, shrugging. He tensed and blew out a breath. I could tell he regretted that already, but it had to be said.
"Two no intimate stuff until we decide this is something we want to go through with." He nodded, following along. "Okay, now this isn't a rule, but I'll need an open space to practice my magic, it's been a while since I last used it," I said sheepishly, He tensed but nodded anyway "I'm sure I can figure something out," he said in a tensed tone.
"Do you have any rules for me?" I asked. "No, not right, but I'll tell you if I come up with any." I nodded.
"Okay, well, I'll leave you to think and finish your work."
He stared at me as I walked out of his office, seemingly in shock about this encounter. I bit my lip trying to hold back my laugh and headed down the stairs back to my room. The first thing I wanted him to show me when we went on this date was the elevator.
Ashton
What just happened? Fifteen minutes ago, I thought our relationship was over before it even started, and now I was supposed to take her on a date. Did I even want to go on a date with a witch of all beings? No, but I did want to go on a date with her. I smiled and sat back in my office chair. She still wanted to try with me after I was so rude to her at dinner. I was going to try to take my wolf's advice and not judge her before I knew her. I couldn't deny the pull I had toward her and fate knew best.
