“There is something I need to tell you about Luna Melissa…”
I couldn’t take my eyes off Amber after she said those words. My heartbeat instantly quickened.
For months, I hadn’t heard a single piece of information about Melissa. Now, from the way Amber was speaking, I had the distinct feeling that she knew something she had been hiding for a long time.
“What is it?” I asked firmly.
She lowered her head. “I know why Melissa left,” she confessed.
“W-What?” I stammered.
“And…” she added hesitantly, “I helped her prepare for her departure from the pack.”
The words made my ears ring. I shot to my feet, disbelief written all over my face.
