I had been roaming the town for hours, still accompanied by half of the warriors we had brought from Silver Lake, yet there was still no sign of Melissa.
We scoured every alleyway of North Ridge’s territory from end to end. We even pulled over every carriage entering and leaving their borders just to ask questions. But not a single person could tell us where she was.
The trail of her scent grew weaker as the night deepened. I felt as if I was running out of time. And I didn’t know how much longer I could endure being apart from the woman I loved.
