Melissa’s POV.
I had only just woken up from my afternoon nap because of the cold weather. It had been drizzling on and off earlier, but now that evening was approaching, the rain had stopped and the sky had become clear.
When my stomach growled from hunger, I checked the cabinet above the counter, only to realize that I had run out of food and other necessities. Some of my kitchen supplies were running low as well because it had been over a week since I last went grocery shopping.
I changed into one of my simple dresses and gathered the things I needed to bring. After tying my hair back, I hung a small basket over my arm. I decided to head to the market since it would be dinnertime soon anyway.
I gazed out the window and realized darkness had already fallen. I needed to hurry.
