Alpha’s Cruel Betrayal
"I, Alpha Kael of the Silver Moon Pack, reject you, Evelyn, as my mate and future Luna." Those words ripped through the air without thinking, colder than the harsh rain that was drenching the entire assembly. Evelyn stood in the middle of the pack grounds, her knees resting on the wet ground. Her heart, once filled with the hope of a fortified bond, shattered like shards of glass. People around her in the pack began to whisper. Some looked away in disgust, while others looked at her with disgust. "Kael... why?" Evelyn's voice was a broken whisper. She looked at the man she had loved so much since childhood. Kael stood there with all his Alpha strength and power. But his eyes, which had once sparkled at her, were now filled with nothing but hatred. "A Luna must be strong, Evelyn. A Luna must know how to lead a hunt and protect the pack. A Luna must have all of this," Kael's voice was loud enough for everyone to hear. She took a step forward and put her hand around the waist of the woman standing next to her, pulling her closer. Evelyn's breath stopped. It was Sarah—her own younger sister. Sarah gave a crooked smile and rested her head on Kael's shoulder. Evelyn was 'wolfless' and hadn't shifted even after turning 20, but Sarah had shifted into a powerful cream-colored wolf since childhood. "Sarah is everything you're not," Kael continued, "She's strong. She's fertile. And most importantly, she has the wolf, everything I need. You? You're just a human mistake, accidentally born into the world of shifters. You're a wolfless blight on us all." This humiliation weighed on Evelyn like a burden. In the world of werewolves, rejection from a mate is no less than a death sentence. But here, she had her own sister. To be rejected for her own sister? This betrayal was the deepest burn of all. "But Kael, the Moon Goddess chose us..." "So maybe the Moon Goddess made a mistake!" Kael roared, his Alpha pressure forcing Evelyn to bow her head in fear. "I will never let the name of my clan be tarnished by your weak blood. And yes, listen, from today on, all your ranks are lost. You are no longer part of the Silver-Moon Pack." Everyone held their breath in fear. Exile. He was taking her out on the night of a Blood Moon, when the Forbidden Forest was teeming with rogues and scary monsters, not without danger. "Leave her at the border," Kael ordered, turning his back on him as if he were some street garbage. "If he shows up tomorrow morning after sunrise, kill him." The forest was like a dark, dark wall. Evelyn was wailing in the darkness among the thorns and bushes, her sl*t-like dress torn to shreds. Her body ached, but the pain in her chest was much worse. Her inner wolf—the one everyone said didn't exist—was much more troubled than the pain. Rejected. Abandoned. Alone. The rain had turned into a storm. And from behind, she could hear the laughter and cries of her old pack brothers. They were hunting her for fun, pushing her into the depths of the Forbidden Shadow Forest, a place where even Alphas feared to go. Her foot hit a rock and she fell into a deep ravine. As she fell, blood began to flow from her mouth. "Was that all? Is this all my life?" she cried, looking up at the red moon. "Will I die like this, Moon Goddess? Living far away and alone?" Suddenly, the entire forest fell silent. The chirping of the snakes stopped. The wind died down. Even the rain slowed as a strange mist began to spread over the ground. The cold became so intense that Evelyn could not breathe properly. Just then, a scent reached her. It wasn't like the smell of wolves' dust. It was something old, expensive, and intoxicating—like old wine and cold iron. Thud. Thud. The ground shook with the sound of heavy footsteps. Evelyn tried to run, but her body wouldn't budge. A fear she'd never felt before seemed to freeze her bones. From behind an old, withered tree, a stalk emerged. It was very tall—so tall it was hard to believe. He wore a midnight-black coat that blinded the light. His skin was moon-white, and his hair was jet black. But his eyes made Evelyn's heart skip a beat. They weren't yellow or blue. They were crimson. "A little runaway wolf?" the man said. His voice was deep and melodious, a baritone that went straight to Evelyn's soul. He approached her like a hunter, yet in a very elegant manner. In a moment, he was standing before her. She knelt and lifted his chin with her fingers. His touch was like ice, but it sent a current through Evelyn's entire body. Evelyn's eyes nearly fluttered. "A... a vampire?" The man tilted his head slightly, a faint, ruthless smile forming on his lips, revealing his sharp fangs. "Not just any ordinary vampire, little one," he whispered, his red eyes scanning the marks of disapproval on Evelyn's neck. "A dog spat you out, I can see that. How could anyone waste such precious and precious blood?" He came a little closer, his cool breath near Evelyn's ear. "Wolves are quite fools. They threw a diamond because they weren't worthy of seeing its brilliance. Tell me, Wolfless Girl... Would you like to make them understand? Would you like to take revenge on them? Tell me?" Evelyn looked into those red eyes and felt a strange feeling. She had nothing left to lose. No pack, no mate, no home. "Who... who are you and what are you doing here?" he asked. The man stood up and gently lifted her into his arms. A cloud surrounded them. "I am Lucian von Dracul," he announced, and the air around him trembled with his terrifying power. "The new Overlord of the Night. And from this moment on... you are mine, Wolfless Girl." Evelyn felt a burning sensation as his fangs grazed her skin, and for the first time since her rejection, she didn't feel any weakness. An old, dark force began to awaken within her. Alpha had rejected Luna. But he had no idea that he had gifted the King of the Monsters his queen. What would happen next?
