My body, my soul, my heart just shredded in to a million pieces. I felt like someone had just gut punch my so hard I lost all the air. Inserting their hand right into my chest cavity and squeezing my heart. Making it so hard to beat in a normal rhythm .

I when I got the call about the accident. I didn’t think it would be her. I thought it be just anyone besides her.I grab a chair and just sat there next to her. Holding her hand, she warm.

Thats a good sign right?!

Yeah I think so. If she was near dead, I think she be cold.

I squeeze her hand every few minutes, hoping she will squeeze mine right back. “Please Eve, you need to wake up and be okay.” I lay my head on to her chest. Feeling her body go up and down repeatedly. I can hear her heart beating on rhythm.She look at peace. Just sleeping awayMy mind just cloud up with thoughts.Ohh how I wish I met her sooner in life. I wish we had a life together. I don’t want Eve to have a bad life at the end if all if this. That not how anyone should go.

We did tell her how we felt a few hours again. She knows there’s someone out there waiting for her love. Pleading that one day she be ours.

I hope none of this was my fault. Maybe I over whelmed her with my feelings. God I am such and i***t! We knew she already had other stuff, more important stuff to be thinking of. The last thing she needs is some jacka** from a random bar, coming into her life.

I should of just ignore my urge and let her be. Should wouldn’t be here hurt if it wasn’t for me.She wasn’t ready for it. Gush I am so selfish, I put myself and my needs before hers. Why? I told her I would never hurt her. And now look. She in the hospital hurt and I just had to tell her i’m falling for her.

I rub my temple at the i***t action I had in all of this. Why did i say anything? All I should of done was get her sober or drive her home. Thats all. SIMPLE A F***. Dom you are an idiot.I just want her to open her eyes and see my face first. She know i’m truly truly here at any stake.

“Just open your eyes Eve. Let me know you be okay”A tear ran down my face and touch her blanket.After waiting so long. I spent the while time keeping track of her breathing, her heart rate and checking if she awoken up yet. No change though.

*knock knock*

I sprang up and out if my chair as i heard the knock. “Hi i’m Dr.Marconi” he took his hand away from his click book to shake mine. “Yes Dr, how is she, will she wake up soon?” Rubbing my hands on my pants as they sweat through the pain. I try speaking calm. Not showing too much emotion.

“She sir she will be fine. Just 2 bruised ribs, and a broken arms.” Taking his glass off to speak to me. “Thats good. dr?” Happy to hear she be okay, but she injured so bad. I place my hand over my mouth. “Don’t worry, it could of been a while lot worst for her. She came out the green side.” Placing an hand in my shoulder.

I felt a little relief after that. But she not complete.something seem wrong thou? “Dr. If everything okay. And you said she on the green side. Why isn’t she awake yet. Wouldn’t she be talking or something by now.”Scratching my nose. I frowned my eyebrows as I look at Eve injured body. Hurt face doesn’t seem to know what had happen.

“Well only time will tell. Everyone wakes up at their own pace.”Reinsuring me it all okay. “Is she in any pain?” I ask the doctor. “She seem to be in a deep sleep, so NO, no pain. But when she wakes up she might be a bit destress and sore from the accident. Don’t worry thats normal. It’s the body way of reacting.”Say Dr. Marconi

“Okay Dr thank you.” Nodding my head at him. “Just call us if she seem to be in too much pain and Nurse Liby will give her something” Dr. Marconi continue to explain.I just nod to the doctor. Glad for the reinsuring from him. My heart still ace at the sight of Eve. Just watching her lay in the bed. With wires attached to her.

I just want to see her out of here already. Wake up, talk to me and i’ll make sure nothing or anyone ever hurts her again. “Will Iwould be back soon to check on her, if you need anything, just ask Nurse Liby here.” He nod to the nurse who came in with him.

The nurse stayed as the doctor walk out after look through Eve virals and writing something down on her chart.I just pay all my attention to Eve. “Just wake up soon Eve.” I lend down and kiss her forehead.“She be fine officer, your wife seem like a fighter.” Nurse Liby say.

“Well everything looks good, I will be at the nurse station. If you need me heres a button that call directly to the station” pointing to a red button on the wall that right next to Eve’s bed. “Thank you Nurse.” We both smile as nurse Liby walk out the room after typing a few stuff on a computer that sits in the corner of the room.

*Exhale deeply*

“You heard that Eve, everything is gonna be just fine. I just need you to open your eyes. Speak to me Baby.” I bend down to kiss her forehead again.Thank god she gonna be okay. I hope she wake up soon. I hate to see her like this. Knowing she hurting right.The doctor says she isn’t in any pain.

* knock knock*

I thought the doctor or nurse came back again but it was just officer entering the room. “Hi, are you Officer Carbone?”an officer with a uniform ask me.“Umm yes, and you are?” Wondering why he’s here. She not awake yet to answer any question. The nurse would of told him that.

“Ohh yes, excuse me. I’m officer Andrew. I was the one who call you earlier” the office was speak with respect towards me. “Oh yes hello, thank you for calling” pull my hand out to shake his. Out of respect. “Do you know the victim?”asking me

“Yes she a dear friend of mine” standing tall with my chest out. “Well I do hope everything goes well.” I can see he meant what he said.“How was the sene? Any information?” I ask in a very deep tone. He came here for something to tell me. That I know.

“Yes, well the by what we saw it was an head on collision. Your friend got the worst of it. The other car was bigger then her was not too much damage there. The other drive is in our station right now. We tested him and he seem to be under the influenced. With the rain and the dark road, he didn’t see the car and must of hit her. Causing her car to flip multiple time. She was still in the car with her seat beat attached. So the firefights had to cut her out to transport her to the EMTs. At the scene the only thing we found was your card in her pocket. That when I call you.” Holding his hand behide his back speaking with a loud tone. Giving me the report from the accident.

“Did the EMT test her for a DUI?” Asking firmly. “Yes they did. She was sober. So it rule her out of the main caused. The road does get a bit slippy so that might be a cause as well.” Answering my question.“Did anyone find anything else? Or was that all officer?” Continue to ask questions

“Thats all we have to report, and yes. Here is a few items we found that we thought the doctor, or you may want to hand to the victim once she wakes up.” Nodding his head and handing me a bag full of random items.

“I did show the nurse the items to document and get the doctor report on the victims recovery.” Continue to speak.“Thank you Officer Andrew. Is that all?” Speaking with my firm officer voice. “Yea sir, we will check back later for updates. Have a good day.” He replys.

“Thank you again, Officer Andrew.”I nod my head at officer as he leave the room.A mic of emotion build up inside as I heard the report from the officer. I was glad that Eve was sober when she drove off. But angry at the fact an drunk got on the road and hit her.

After everything I try to do to keep her safe. I just wanted her to make it home in one piece and I fail.

Don’t beat yourself up man. We or anyone couldn’t of image this would happen.

I don’t I feel like I could of save her.

There was nothing we could of done. We did our part and the universe had another plan. It was bad but it happen. Now at this moment Eve needs us her by her side. And we will not leave it this time. She will open her eyes and see us.

Yeah, for sure I am not going no where this time. I want yo be the first person she see when she opens up her eyes.

I grab the chair and sat back down next to Eve. I held her hand and just pray pray she wakes up soon. The expands is dreading me. “You heard the nurse earlier Eve. She said you are a fighter. Just keep fighter and you’ll make it out of here. Wake up for us baby please wake up.” I comb her hair as i spoke softly to Eve. Hoping my voice will wake her up.

My body starts to feel numb as time keep passing by. Waiting for Eve to just open her eyes. “Just come back to me Eve. Come back.” I keep talking to her. Hoping something clicks and she starts to wake.I wish there was something I can do. I’ll will do anything to just have a chance to her voice again. I wanted us to have a chance to hold each other again. I want her warm little body in my embrace. Holding her tight and to never let go.

Rage start to build up with guilt flooding inside. I know I shouldn’t beat my self up about it. But i can’t help it. I was the last person with her. I could of done something anything.“F*** man why didn’t we just took her hime ourself.”I want scream and punch something so bad but i’m in public i can’t.

Just try to calm down. You don’t want Eve to wake up and see you like this.

I got out my chair and walk back and froth from the room. Looking around the whole place. Just thinking of way i could of done better. Thinking how much better and safe she would of been if this drunken moron didn’t decide to get on the road while it rain and hit her car.

“Eve would of been home, nice and safe. This shouldn’t of happen to her.” I whisper to my self as I look at Eve from the distance. “F*** Eve, I hope i’m bot becoming bad luck for you.” I turn around to look out the window.

It was still raining and I couldn’t see nothing outside from the darkness. I was going crazy think over and over what had happen. Everything the doctor, the nurse, and officer sad to me just keep replaying back in my head. “F*** man why did this had to happen?!” I try not to yell. Just spoke in a low voice to myself.

My body was fill with almost every emotion on max. I had no control at the most part. But after a few hours I calm myself down.Told myself that its late. Try to get some rest. If any change happen we will be here and the nurse would wake us up.

So I grab my chair and place it as close to Eve bed. And grab another chair to place in front of it. I look in the one of the cabinets in the room to see if I can found a blanket.I don’t why the hospital is always so cold. You would think they keep it at a more warm/cold temp to everyone comforted.

I look in a few cabinets and i found one. I grab it and lay down on my chairs. I sat in the one near Eve’s head and scoot down so my legs lay as straight as they can in the other chair. I lay the blanket on myself and try to rest. Hoping by the morning she will wake up. “Goodnight Eve”
