Lost.
I woke with a start, my heart beating out of my chest. I couldn't shake the fogginess from my pounding head. What the hell happened to me? I slowly looked around at my surroundings. What the hell? I was even more confused.
How did I end up in the middle of a forest? What in the bloody hell? I can't remember anything. I am so lost. Omg what is my name!! Who am I? What happened? How did I get here? I tried to move, tried to sit up, and my body hurt like I was hit by 10 Mac trucks.
My head hurt, and my vision blurred. I couldn't even think about trying to stand up. The pain was horrible. My vision was spinning. I tried to lean against the tree I was near, and I lost the fight as I fell into darkness. When I woke up again, I was still in pain, and my brain felt so foggy. I looked around me and there were trees for miles, it seemed. Where am I? It looked like the sun was close to setting. My only thoughts were that I needed to find some shelter of some sort before I couldn't see anymore. as I tried to move my body to stand up, I could feel I was bruised and hurt all over. I wish I could remember.
I noticed the pain wasn't as bad as it was, but it was still very noticeable as I slowly got to my knees and held the tree for support. I began to stand, my legs were shaky, and I didn't think I could get my body to work. It hurt so badly that I wanted to curl up and sleep, but I told myself to get to shelter and I could sleep, and hopefully, I'd feel better.
I stopped and listened for a moment for anything at all, really! I was amazed at what I could hear in the silence, like the water moving over rocks in the distance. The animals walking in the trees, the birds' songs, and the wind blowing in the leaves. I figured it was best to find the water and go from there, so I focused more on the sound of the water rushing and headed that way. I looked down at the ground as I walked.
I didn't want to hurt myself more than I was already and with no shoes on and just a summer dress with rips and tears in it. I don't remember anything. I can't even remember my name or where I came from. Man, this is so not good taking a deep breath to try and calm my racing thoughts. I realized I could smell the water. Yeah! I know it sounds crazy smelling water, but it totally has a smell. It's hard to describe it, so I followed my nose and walked as fast as I could with my aching body and pounding head. I kept walking until
I finally found the river. I decided to go with the flow. I don't know why, but I felt like I should, so I walked downstream to the river following its flow. It was getting darker the more I went, and I was getting worried. I'd be stuck out in the dark forest with nowhere to hide from predators. As I came around the corner, the scenery changed from mostly trees to now huge rocks and rocky terrain.
I carefully maneuvered over and around the rocks for some time. This time, when I looked up, I saw a cave in the distance. I tried to hurry as much as my hurt body would let me. Over and around the rocks until I finally came to the entrance. It was dark inside, and I was a little scared of what may live inside said cave, but the need for shelter and sleep made my body move before my brain registered. I was even moving.
As I entered the cave, I inhaled deeply, looking around, trying to see if I could see or smell any animals. But all I smelt was dirt, minerals and the water from outside. I was scared to go in too deep just in case I was invading something's home. I went in far enough that I could see the entrance still and was far enough that no one would see me immediately. I slumped back and sat down against the rock wall, sliding to the floor and taking a breath. I just gave myself a few minutes to just breathe and rest my aching head. It really was no use if my mind could not stop and rest.
I am safe for now, at least I hope so, but I can't remember anything to say how I had gotten so beat up or how I ended up in the forest. Man, I am so screwed right now!. I don't even know what forest I am in, let alone how to get the hell out of it. Something had to have happened to get me here in this condition. Who am I? What am I going to do? Where am I from? Is anyone even looking for me? Do I have anyone out there worried about me? "Fûck!"OK, calm down, I told myself, breathe, Destiny... flashback." Green eyes." You are my destiny. You are mine destiny.. It is me or death.. blinking as the images faded. Wait, what was that? Is that my name? OMG, groaning with frustration. I can't think anymore. I need to sleep. It is completely dark outside now.
The only sort of light shining was from the moon outside the cave. I closed my eyes and tried to get comfortable, and I drifted off to sleep. I was awoken by a sound. It was pitch black everywhere, and I could hear the thunder and the rain from outside the cave. Oh man, I hope it doesn't get too cold. I don't have anything to keep me warm.. shît! What was that? I thought, as I heard a scuffling sound, I held my breath to listen for anything or anyone that could have made that sound but I didn't hear anything and let my breath out slowly to try and calm my racing heart and next thing I knew I heard a deep voice say "Why are you hiding in my cave" I screamed out at the surprise I didn't see anyone there and stammered "I..I...I don't know I just found it for shelter from the night I'm.... I'm sorry! I didn't know anyone was here, really. I meant no harm," I winced from pain as I tried to move to stand up. I heard the deep voice again, "Are you injured? Did you fall? Are you OK?" I could hear him moving around, and I could feel his presence moving closer to me, so when I felt something touch me, I flinched away, "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, please can you come with me?" I'm sure you are thirsty and hungry." I nodded my head and realized he couldn't see me, so I said,"I am yes, thank you."
I felt his hand on my arm, moving down to my hand. I was surprised and shocked, to say the least, by the warmth of his hand in mine as he helped me to stand up. I was shaky and trembling. He asked if I was ok to walk, " I'll try my best." He waited for me to move before he made a move behind me, but after a few steps, I almost fell. He held me up by my waist from behind, and the feeling of his warmth so close made my belly erupt with butterflies more like dragons, but either way, it was a totally inappropriate reaction to this man I have only just met and heard him speak to me three times. What is wrong with me? as I came from my inner dialog. He asked, "Are you sure you're alright. You seem to be hurt. Let me carry you. "No, I can do it, I'm sorry, I just lost my balance." I replied.
I went to take another step, as he kept his hands on my hips to steady me as I moved. I felt so embarrassed. There I was with a total stranger having inappropriate thoughts, and he was just trying to help me. I made it four more steps and had to stop. I was breathing heavily like I had run a marathon. I felt so weak as I held onto the wall. He asked if I was alright, and I responded with a breathy "Yes," he chuckled behind me and said, "You are a stubborn little one, I see. Let me help you. Please, I promise no ulterior motives here. Just want to eat soon. "
I let out a breath, I hadn't realized I was holding and said OK, but before I could say anything more, he scooped me up, letting a squeal of surprise escape me. I grabbed around his neck and held on for dear life as he traversed the cave with ease. I could not see a damn thing till we came around what felt like a bend, and I saw light coming from in front of us. He said," This is where I spend my nights when I'm out here hunting, so we will be warm and safe tonight." As we entered the room, I looked around, taking it in as he set me to my feet. I first noticed the fire space he had made to be enclosed, so no smoke filled the room, and there was a kettle on the top of the stone hearth. He moved it to the middle, so the fire was right underneath it.
I turned to look around and saw there wasn't much else other than what looked to be a bed covered in soft furs and a tree stump right next to it then a couple of chairs by the homemade table filled with hunting tools. Just to the left of the room was a small alcove with meat from his kills hung there to cure. I turned back to say thank you, and he was standing there with his hands in his pockets, looking nervous. I gave him a small smile as I roamed his body with my eyes.
Damn, he was sexy just standing there, hiking boots on his feet. His jeans fit snugly, the muscles of his legs were firm and rock hard, and Oh my! my! oh shît! I shouldn't be looking at that area crap. I'm sure I am ten shades of red by now as I made my way up to his eyes. Wow, those beautiful blue eyes. I completely forgot what I was saying. Was I saying something? shît. "Sorry. Umm....thank you." He chuckled and slowly pushed off from the wall and took a step towards me, "Your welcome. Let's get you looked after shall we?. Then I will make us some food." With that, he walked from the room and went to a room opposite the meat alcove I hadn't seen.
When he came back, he had a bowl and some cloth. He pointed, "Come sit, I'll get your wounds cleaned up." I just shook my head with a yes and sat where he had indicated. As I sat and tried to get comfortable. He went and got water from the kettle and put some in the bowl. When he came back, he knelt before me looking at my wounds. I just watched his every move so skilled and smooth. He sure was handsome.
He dipped the rag into the water and started cleaning the blood from my forehead. He looked into my eyes and asked me what had happened. I felt so dumb when I said I didn't know anything, really, so I went into what I do remember, and when I was done, he seemed shocked by the look he had. I asked him what was wrong, and he said it was nothing but wouldn't meet my eyes again. I started to feel anxious and wanted to ask him why he was reacting that way, but before I could, there was a sound from where we had come from. He jumped up really fast and grabbed me from behind, covered my mouth and whispered in my ear, "Be quiet. Don't say anything and stay here. Don't come out no matter what."
I hadn't realized he had moved us until I was able to see around the room. I just nodded my head, and he let me go. I was shaking so badly, he whispered in my ear, "It's OK, sweet girl. I'll keep you safe. Just stay here no matter what, OK Bambi?" I nodded yes, he said,"Good girl," kissed my forehead and walked out, leaving me alone with my fear, pounding heart and racing thoughts.
I slowly moved forward, trying to hear anything of what was happening outside. Why was he hiding me? Was I in danger? Is he in danger because I found his cave? No, I didn't want that. I went to try and get closer to the entrance when I heard voices. I froze. They were saying "Well if you do see her, detain her and call us." His response was that he was only going to be around for three days, but he would keep an eye out while he was here. I was frozen in my place, freaking out silently.
Why were they looking for me? Clearly, someone had tried to get rid of me. That's the only thing I can think of. With this revelation, I slid to the ground, buried my head in my knees, and cried. What else would it be? Why beat me and dump me? I don't even know my fûcking name, let alone why someone would want to hurt me.
I really don't know, but it has to be someone important to have people searching the forest for me, let alone in the dark. Did I do something bad? Oh, what am I going to do?
I sat there lost in thought, for I don't even know how long before I saw his movement in the doorway. I was too scared to breathe, let alone move. I looked up, and he was standing there with all his muscles. I looked into his eyes and could see concern. He moved to kneel beside me, taking me in his arms. "Hey, hey, it's OK," he said as he wiped tears from my face. I hadn't even realized I was crying. I felt so embarrassed, crying like a child, but I was afraid, and I still don't know who I am or why I ended up in this condition. But his words brought me back to the present." Bambi, are you OK baby, it's OK, you're alright, you're safe," I couldn't help but think, Yeah, I'm safe, I don't think it's true. How can I be safe when someone is looking for me for something? I don't even know why, and to top it all off, I am putting this nice man in danger. I couldn't do that to him. He helped me. Oh my God, I'm spiraling right now.
I can't breathe, "I..I..I..can't...can't... No!! I can't let you protect me and get hurt because of me. I don't know what I did to make this happen, but I can't let you get hurt because of me. Maybe I should just go to them and ask why they are looking for me."I cried out. I pushed him away, trying to get loose. I started to get up but was stopped instantly. His hand grabbed my arm and held me in place. He held my face, forcing me to meet his eyes, "Stop!. You will do no such thing. I chose to help you. You didn't do anything wrong, but I can't let you leave. I don't know why you are hurt or why people want you, but I will help you figure it out. OK, calm down, take a deep breath as he showed me with his own breathing. I followed along for a few minutes. Good girl, Bambi C'mon, let me feed you so you can sleep."
He helped me to stand, kept hold of my hand in his and led me from the tiny room, sat me down on the stool and got to work cleaning my facial wounds and the cuts on my arms, hands, and legs. I watched him in complete awe as he worked his concentration solely on my cuts and cleaning the blood from my body.
His face is calm but Stoic, his cheekbones prominent, his chiseled jaw line, his plump juicy pink lips, his slightly crooked nose just, adds to his beauty and his big bright blue eyes are almost aqua, but not quite. His black hair fell forward when he bent to rinse the rag out and clean more of my skin. I held back the urge to touch him and move the hair from his face. I inhaled a deep breath, and his eyes shot into mine, watching, waiting to capture my soul, I'm sure.
Looking at me, my face heated. He asked, "Are you good, sweet girl? Did I hurt you?" I watched him for a second. "N.. No, no, I'm fine. Sorry," I replied with my voice caught in my throat. he didn't say anything to me, just switching between my eyes and my lips, then he looked away and just went back to work cleaning my wounds. After he was finished with my face and arms, he stood and said, "Stay" before walking away with the dirty water. When he came back, he poured more water in, and then he sat the bowl down in front of me and said, "I'll get you something to wear. If you want to clean yourself up, I will leave it here and go get some food for us, OK?" I nodded my head.
After that, he left the room for a minute and came back with some shorts and a shirt. "They might be too big, but it'll cover you enough. I'll give you a few minutes." and walked away. I stood there lost in thought for a moment before I remembered what I was supposed to do, so I started to take the torn apart dress off of my body, then bent to get the rag and started cleaning myself as best as I could.
I had cuts and bruises all over me. I washed everything I could reach and pulled the shorts or boxers on my frame. They were a little big but will do. I rolled the waist down a few times, and they were good for now. As I was contemplating wearing the shirt before my back was cleaned, I could feel the cuts and blood on me, I heard him walking in, so I covered myself and stood up.
As he entered the room, he was looking down until I cleared my throat to say something, and his head shot up. His eyes went wide with surprise. He took a second, taking me in before he spun around, saying, "Shît!! I'm so sorry I wasn't thinking"... and I stopped him before he could go on. "It's OK, it's my fault I was waiting for you....I swallowed hard. " I. I need some help with my back if you don't mind.. Umm... please."
He turned around looking at me as he walked slowly, watching me as I watched him, and I know I shouldn't be lusting after this man that I hardly know, but god I can't help it, he is so handsome and so sexy and I want to... Uuuggh, stop it. You can't do that, I scolded myself. He made his way to me. He asked, "What do you need, Bambi?" I looked in his eyes and the lust I saw swimming around in them, and a million different needs and wants raced through my mind. I couldn't look away from him, and I damn sure couldn't breathe properly.
He flashed me a smile, and I cleared my throat, "s... sorry, um, I needed help with my back, um.. There are cuts I can't reach, um.. Do you mi...mind?" Why can't I speak right, I thought. His deep voice sounded even deeper if that's possible, "No, I don't mind, turn around for me."
I gave him the rag I had and turned around. I used one hand to hold the shirt covering my breasts and pulled my long hair to the front so he could get to my back and clean it. As soon as his fingers touched my back, I gasped in surprise at the electricity that ran through my body. Goose bumps spread everywhere, and heat spread like a fire through me.
I had to remind myself he was just cleaning my cuts and nothing more. Yeah, ya see, that seems to be the problem. My mind says one thing, but the man makes my body want to do things with him that should not happen. Dâmnit, I wish I knew who I was and what had happened because everything was so confusing and overwhelming.
Uughgh, what the hell is wrong with me!!! I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't realize he was done till I heard him ask if that was all I needed. My body was screaming, no, no, it was not, but my mouth said, "Yeah th..thank you." He replied, "No problem, I'm going to start the food. He groaned as he stood saying, " Dress, Bambi, please he sounded tortured." I laughed and pulled the top over my body..
