Alicia POV
I stood there shocked to my stomach, I knew what I heard but there was still an uncertainty in my heart when I heard what Mother said.
“What are you saying? There is no way you mean what you are saying? I know it's a joke right?” I was looking at my mother, it didn't seem like a joke and it was not like her to make jokes.
“You know for a girl I thought was smart, you my dear are dumb as a rock and there is no way I will be lost explaining myself to you.” Mother didn't say anything more, it was like she was trying to tell me something and I knew what it was she had been trying to say.
‘There is no way Andrew would let her back into the house, I know she will want to make me unhappy.’ I thought to myself but there was no way it was not going to bother me, I needed to know if what they were saying was actually true.
I left them and ran upstairs. Their laughter was haunting me, it was like there was no way I was going to let them get to me. “Andrew?” I called as I walked up the room, my heart was pounding as I walked to the room.
I wanted it to be a joke and to hear Andrew say that no such thing happened between him and Rebecca, I was praying with all my heart that it may be nothing but a dream. “Andrew?” I opened the doors to my room to see Andrew sitting by the table. It was like he was lost in thought.
“Tell me Andrew, is everything your mother said true? Tell me, did you sleep with that woman?” I was looking at him, he remained silent and didn't even reply to me.
I was scared by his silence, I knew there were worse things to do than remain silent like that. “Andrew I am talking to you, why are you not saying anything? I know there is no way you will ever try to sleep with her after all she has done to you? Tell me Andrew, tell me it isn't true and they just want to mess with me.”
I looked at Andrew but he remained silent, it was one of the most painful things he could ever do. I knew there was no way for me to do anything but to look at him as he remained silent trying to avoid my every gaze.
“Andrew, please answer me! I know you can not do such a thing so please clear up my doubts and tell me that there is no way you will be in some kind of relationship with that whore.” I was lost in what seemed to be pain, I was praying so hard that it was all a lie and he was not responsible for whatever it was they were saying.
“And what if I was the one responsible,” Andrew was cold with his words, his face remained expressionless like I had done something to deserve his coldness.
“What is all this Andrew? I have given you myself my dedication and love. I gave myself to you, I am your wife and you even had a thought of having an affair with another woman? How could you? All these I have done whatever I have done to make sure that I please you.” I was on the verge of crying, I know there was no way my tears would solve anything.
“You have given me everything but an heir? I have been with you for the past years and yet you fail to give me the one thing that every man would plead for. An heir! I have endured it all, the insults that I might have married a man. Or worse a woman that has lost her womb.” Andrew was in rage and he was trying his best to make sure he didn't say anything harsh to me.
“I told you to give me some time, I will make things right and I,” I was about to tell Andrew about my pregnancy but he was not going to let me say anything. He was in the worst part of his anger, it was like a storm that could not be tamed and a matched rage that I have not seen in anyone but him.
“I have waited and waited, it seems all you tell me is to wait. I thought it was from me, I began to judge my potency, but it turns out that I was not the problem but you! You came into my life only to make sure you were brought out of suffering and now you have been taken out of that state of poverty you don't want to fulfill your wifely duties!” Andrew’s anger was pure from his heart, it was like he was saying something he was trying to keep from me for a very long time.
I looked at Andrew, this was not the same man who had told me that he loved me, there was no way this was the same man. I looked at him with a heavy heart.
“You are telling me that you are going to have a child with another woman? How could you think of doing that? Why in the world are you doing this? I love you Andrew and you know I will do anything in my power to see to it that you are happy. But please tell me that you are not with her? Tell me you're not the father of that child.”
There was silence, Andrew didn't say a thing and the silence told me all I needed to know. It was clear to me that there was no way to save our marriage. Rebecca had come in and she had taken her place here.
“Look, Rebecca will remain here since she has my child growing in her. I will have to keep her until she gives birth but you have to learn to live and take her as part of the family and nothing more.”
I looked at Andrew, I couldn't speak up but I wanted to say in my mouth. “So you are just going to bring her into our family? Like there is nothing wrong with it? I know you think there is nothing much about it but think for a minute how I feel,” I looked at Andrew, I was hoping that he would say something that would reassure me that he was not trying to leave me.
Andrew turned back, looking me in the eye, “I don't need to know how you feel before I make a decision, I know what I have to do and I will do it in order to make sure that nothing will ever happen to my bloodline.”
Andrew walked away, I stood there as I heard his footsteps walking down the staircase. I couldn't do anything but stand there and listen as his footsteps began to fade away. I knelt down to the ground and I broke out in tears, what I thought was going to be the best day of my life turned out to be the worst.
I wanted to go back to the beginning of everything where nothing happened, I wanted it all over. “Why today? Why me? What have I ever done to deserve all this?” I cried, it had been a hard life for Andrew's family. I had to deal with them calling me a gold digger and the fact that they want to make sure that I left at any cost.
I never knew a day of peace in their house, I had done everything in my strength to make sure that I didn't lose my place in that family but it seemed like there was no need for me to protect anything anymore.
I heard footsteps coming, I cleaned up my tears. I knew for sure it was Andrew. He was going to be worried if he saw me crying like that. “Andrew?” I turned and my hope suddenly died down when I saw who was standing by the door.
“Oh it's not Andrew my dear, it's your new house mate.” Rebecca was standing there with a devious smile on her face, I knew she had come to make sure she rubbed in everything that had happened on my face.
I got up and wanted to make sure that nothing was ever going to phase me or even make me sad by just merely looking at her.
“What do you want, Rebecca?” I looked at her as she stared at me, I wanted her to leave immediately but there was no telling what she had come to do but it was also clear to me that she didn't come to do anything that was going to bring me peace in any way.
“Well, I knew you would be wallowing in pain so I came to see for myself what was going on with you.” Rebecca smiled as she walked up to me. I knew there was no simple way of making her leave so I had to deal with her and make sure I didn't let her get to my head.
“You know, there is no way you are going to get anything from being here. I would advise you to leave.”
“And let you have my husband? No thank you, I know your game and I am not going to be playing it.” I looked at her, it was like having a stare off with evil itself.
“You already lost her and this isn't a game.”
“If you think I will stand here and let you take Andrew from me then get it to your head straight. This is my house and
the only way I am leaving is if you make Andrew throw me out!”
