My eyes were wide as I took in the scene before me. They were laying side ways on the bed with him naked and between her legs. Her head was thrown back, her hands gripping the sheets as she moaned.

My heart constricted the more I watched them. My chest tightened and my limbs grew weak. This had to be a dream. What I was seeing didn't make any sense.

Before I knew it, I found myself stepping away from the scene. I didn't stop walking until I was downstairs and right in front of the door.

That was when I noticed the things in the living room. On the floor was Carly's red bra and underwear. On one of the couches were Luke's dress shirt and pants. In the corner of another couch was Carly’s purse and dress, the same dress she had worn to the club with me.

My eyes started to blur and sting. Tears filled my eyes as my heart shattered into multiple pieces. I couldn't stay here any more. I needed space, I needed to find a place to breathe, a place to think clearly because it felt like walls were closing around me.

I opened the door and rushed out of the house. I ran to my car, not caring that I was bare feet and without my coat. With shaky hands and blurry, tear-filled eyes, I opened the door and got into the vehicle. I started the car and drove away.

As I drove, I began to cry. My heart was heavy and full of pain. The more I cried, the more the pain doubled. My head was hurting, I was going crazy.

Carly and Luke were cheating on me?! They were having s*x behind my back, on his bed, the very bed he wanted us to lay on as husband and wife.

“Why?!” I banged the steering wheel in anger and hurt.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I spotted the neon lights of a bar. I needed a drink, a strong drink. I needed something strong to burn the pain in my heart.

I turned around and parked along the road then got out. I wiped my cheeks and eyes then marched toward the bar. I ignored the looks from people as I made my way to the bar.

I walked into the bar and went straight to the counter. I sat down and motioned at the bartender. He immediately came to me and smiled.

“Give me the strongest possible drink,” I said and he stared at me like I was crazy. “Are you deaf? I said give me a f*****g drink.”

The bartender nodded and walked away. I propped my elbows on the counter and cupped my head. I closed my eyes and tried to hold myself from crying. Every part of my head was filled with images of Carly and Luke having s*x.

Luke told me he would wait and Carly told me she could teach me the things that men loved in the bedroom. When she said those things to me, did she mean when she was with Luke?

“Miss?”

I raised my head and saw the bartender holding a glass of my drink. I eyed it before taking it from him. I looked at the cup, eyeing the dark brown content and the ice cubes in it. I gritted my teeth and chugged half of the glass.

My chest burned, as well as my throat as the liquid entered my system. I coughed as it burned then I took another chug. I placed the cup down and looked away. The music playing filled my senses, the people around looked like a blur and the atmosphere felt heavy and cold.

I felt tears start to roll down my cheeks and all I could do was let it fall. I looked back at the cup and clenched my hands when Luke and Carly crossed my thoughts once again.

“How long has this been going on?” I asked myself as another wave of anger filled me.

Have they always been sleeping with each other behind my back? I started to think of any sign, any body language, innuendos or anything they must have done to show that they have been cheating on me but nothing came to my mind.

I got up and felt my head go light. I needed to find out the truth. I needed to confront them. I needed to know why they did this to me.

I paid for my drink and with the little soberness left in me, I went back to my car and drove back to Luke’s place.

I got out of the car and rushed into his house, this time I made sure they heard me. The effect of the drink was now weighing on me which gave me more confidence. I marched up the stairs and stopped when Luke and Carly rushed out of his room half dressed.

“Alessandra?!” They both said.

“Hello, Luke. Hello, Carly. I see you two are having fun. Are you two done f*****g each other?!” I yelled at the top of my voice.

“Bab–”

“Shut up, Luke! Stop!” I was shaking from rage. “How could you do this to me?! What did I do to deserve such pain? Why?! I stayed faithful to you, I loved you, I did everything!"

I stared at them, waiting for a response, instead they stayed silent. There was barely any remorse on their faces. Carly was staring with a smug expression and Luke's expression was blank.

“It was high time you knew the truth anyway,” Carly said. “I was tired of hiding my love for Luke.”

“What?” I was stunned.

“Yes!” She barked. “I am tired! I hated seeing you be all happy when you took my man from me! Well, bestie. Surprise! Luke and I have been f*****g since college.”

I slapped her hard on the cheek and before I could speak, I was slapped back with so much force, I staggered backwards.

“I'm sorry that you had to find out the night before your marriage but I don't care. Luke and I have been f*****g and we love each other,” Carly said with a dirty smirk.

Anger took over me and I grabbed her then tried to pull her down to give her a good beating but instead, Luke stepped forward and grabbed my arm. He forced me away from her then pushed me backward with so much force, I felt my ankles give out.

Panic and fear filled me when I felt myself falling backward. The next thing I felt was pain as my body began to roll downward. I was confused and full of pain as I tried to get a grasp of what was happening.

Just as I looked at them, darkness enveloped my vision.

The next thing I knew, I was standing up but rather than feeling pain or myself, I felt empty and different. I looked at my feet and realized I was standing at the bottom of the stairs.

But what shocked me more was the fact that I was still laying on the floor even when I was standing.

How was I standing and laying on the floor at the same time?
