ALESSANDRA “Oh, do not worry, we will get to that once we are husband and wife.” Could he read minds? How did he have a response to what I had said in my head? “Yes, I do,” he responded. The weight of fear in me had me breathing hard and profusely sweating. Nothing made sense to me. “No…” I shook my head and sat down on the edge of the bed. I looked around me, tears filling my eyes. Why was my life this way? What did I do to deserve this? “Alessandra.” The raspiness of his voice as he called my name sent a tingle down my spine. A tingle that wasn't fear but rather something warm that filled me. I raised my head to look at him and a part of me noticed how soft his eyes had become, lacking the red glow from before. “This is your fate now. You were killed and have come to me. Our wedding will hold today before the entire realm of the underworld. Everyone will now know that you are my bride.” The devil's bride. A voice in my head whispered, making me shudder. Then a wave of hope filled me. Since I couldn't make it to heaven, maybe I could beg for another chance here. This was my only hope. I died too young and I cannot spend eternity here, with a man or being I know nothing about. I was still very young. “I…” I slowly rose to my feet and looked away from him, scared of rejection. “I… I don't understand why I am here or why I was chosen to be your… wife but… I need something. I was murdered. I hate what happened to me but right now, nothing makes sense to me.” He chuckled. “I know but you being here right now has been ordained and written in the book of fate. There is no escaping it no matter how you try. Now… listen to me.” I turned my head to obey and found him staring deeply at me with a look that could kill thousands of people. It was harsh, penetrative and chilling. “We will bind our marriage and be one by midnight.” He wrapped his hand around my wrist and let it go the next second. I looked down and saw a leather watch around my right wrist, which startled me. I looked at the time and it was 10pm. It was almost midnight. The man smirked, his beauty enhancing with the expression. He cupped my chin and tilted my head upward then placed his hand on my hip. I gulped as I stared deep into his eyes, marveled by this stranger that would soon become my husband. “I never wanted this but my soul is fated to be bound to yours. So, I did not wait thousands of years to listen to you disagree. You are my mate, my wife and my salvation. You are fated to me and by midnight, we shall be married for eternity.” His voice boomed with power, and authority that had me breathless. His touch and proximity made me feel things no man had ever made me feel. I was hot, tight chested and flustered in the stomach. Whoever this man was, he was powerful and with my plan, he may be the only one to give me a second chance. ♤♧♤♧ I was looking different. I looked perfect After he had left, over ten young women dressed in red maid dresses walked into the room with various boxes. In silence, they bathed me, washed my skin with sweet smelling soaps and cleaned every part of my body. I was lathered with body cream and sprayed with perfumes. My hair was styled in a perfect updo fit for a bride and I was made to wear the most sexy lingerie I had ever seen. The next thing I knew I was wearing a red wedding gown. It was beautifully crafted for someone of royal blood with a plunging neckline, corset waist, and a long train. On my head sat a black, diamond crown with a red gem and a long red veil. Standing before a mirror was someone different. I looked beautiful, more beautiful than I looked when I wore my wedding gown. In the real world, this would cost thousands and millions of dollars. It was more than what I was supposed to wear back on Earth. I was in awe. “I am getting married to the devil himself,” I whispered as I eyed every part of my body. A knock on the door and the door opening got my attention. A maid stepped in with her head bowed. “It is time, my Queen.” Queen. Oh, God. ♤♧♤♧ I was standing alone, on a round stone slab in a huge hall illuminated by bright red fire. The walls of the hall were tall with statues of gargoyles on every corner. I could hear whispers and melodious voices singing. How I got here, I didn't know. One moment I was in the room and the next, I was here. I gasped when I heard a loud door opening and gulped when I saw him walking toward me, dressed like a knight with red silk draped across his body and a long sword attached to his hip. My lips parted as I stared in awe. He looked majestic, even more perfect than I first saw him. When he climbed the slab and stood before me, towering over me with power and danger swarming around him, I felt a shiver go through me. “You are such a perfection, my bride. So perfectly crafted for me by the creator. Tonight, you shall be my bride and under the witness of the realms, we are bound together for eternity,” he said, passion flowing through his voice. A fluttering sensation filled me when he held my hand. I gasped when black and red smoke wrapped around our hands. I shuddered when it glowed and seeped into the back of my hand. With wide eyes, I watched as the symbol of a crescent moon appeared on the back of my hand. A cold chill suddenly filled my body and then a warm hand touched my cheek. I looked upward, and met his glowing red eyes. A smirk was on his lips, and his expression was masked with slyness. “Repeat after me, dear bride,” a loud, ominous voice filled the air, startling me. “I, Alessandra shall be bound to my king. I give myself to him as his bride, his soul mate and his queen. Together, I shall be with him through eternity.” Before I knew it, I was repeating every word the voice had uttered while staring into the eyes of the man that was now my husband. “I, Lucius, shall be bound to my queen. I give myself to her, as her husband, her soul mate and her king. Together, I shall be with her through eternity,” he said, voice like thunder and tone like fire. “So shall it be. You may seal your marriage with a kiss,” the voice echoed. Air left my lungs at the statement. My lips parted and my heart pounded as this man, this being called Lucius, took a step closer and cupped my cheeks. I swallowed and placed my hands on his metal chest while eyeing his parted lips. Lucius angled his head to the side once his face was close to mine. His warm breath fanned my lips, making a knot form in my belly. I found myself leaning into him, his touch, and the energy coming off him. When he titled my head at an angle that had my lips brushing his, every part of my body buzzed with excitement and sudden need. “You are mine, now and forevermore. Mine to have for all eternity. Mine,” he whispered and captured my lips. I surrendered myself to him.
