ALESSANDRA A rush of air filled my lungs, making the area around my chest hot and tight. I clutched my chest, holding tightly onto the fabric of my dress while rolling onto my side and slowly sitting up on the soft surface I was on. My vision was blurry and a pang on the side of my head was strong. I groaned and blinked hard, trying to clear my vision. When my vision began to clear up, I moved my gaze around. I gasped, shock taking over my senses and confusion filling my head. I was in an unfamiliar place, an unfamiliar room so big it could fit two bedrooms. I slowly rose to my feet to take a good look around. This was not the empty, lonely road with trees and bushes on the side where my body was dumped. I was in someone's bedroom. A bedroom fit for a king. The walls were tall and dark, with some shelves full of books almost the height of the walls. There were two tall windows that were shielded with blood red curtains. In the corner were some pieces of red leather furniture. The place was dark and clouded with dangers lurking in the corners. I turned around and eyed the large, king sized four poster bed that was draped in red and black silk. I took a step back as my eyes darted around the room, desperate for answers. Where was I? The last thing I remembered was dying and seeing my body being dumped by my fiancé and my best friend. How did I get here? Whose room was this? I glanced at the window then ran over to it. I held the thick fabric and parted the curtains. My legs almost gave out when my eyes fell upon nothing but a large expanse of dry land. Endless dry land, with cracks and crows flying low and high in the sky. “Oh, God.” Fear cascaded through me, making me cower and stagger backwards. My ears perked up when I heard the familiar sound of a door creaking. I held my breath, scared of who I might see. “You are finally awake. I'm glad.” The voice was deep, hoarse and held a weight that sent shivers down my spine. The tremble in the voice made my back straighten and my heart to skip a beat. Slowly, I turned around with my eyes downcasted. Once I was fully turned, with fear and worry in me, I raised my gaze upward. I inhaled sharply when my gaze landed on a magnificently looking man. He stood tall with a dark aura surrounding him. The features of his face were sharp and well sculptured to resemble that of a Greek god, a god so handsome yet so beautiful. His sharp and arched brows were furrowed, producing a dark contrast over his hunter-like eyes. His hair was dark and shoulder length, with some locks falling over one side of his face. He was angelic. A beautiful angelic being. I felt my mouth fall open as I took in this perfect man before me. His height seemed to be past six feet and his build was lean yet filled out. As much as he looked perfect, too perfect. There was darkness around him, a darkness that made him appear dangerous. A darkness that was clearly seen, yet naked to the eye. When he took a step forward, I took a step back. “Wh-who are you?” I asked with a waver in my voice. He pulled the side of his lips into a feline smirk, which made his eyes darken and narrow. “You must be so confused and scared.” He shut his eyes and inhaled softly then opened them the next second. “I can smell that sweet smell of fear in you… It's delicious.” I swallowed and took another step back. I wrapped my arms around my body and looked around me, hoping to see an exit to escape through. “I have waited centuries for you,” he spoke in a deeper tone as he approached me. “I've been waiting for you for thousands of years and now, you have finally come to me.” The man stopped before me and stretched out his hand, as if beckoning me to him. I stared at it and felt a tug and a fluttering feeling in me. It was as if there was an urge to hold him, to embrace him but I couldn't accept it. I needed answers. “Please,” I said, looking up at him. “Where am I? Who are you?” He smiled. “You are home.” “Home,” I said breathlessly. “This is the afterlife,” he said as if stating the obvious. “Or shall I call it… hell?” My heart skipped a beat and that was when I realized something. I looked down at myself. I was no longer translucent. How? “What?” My heart became heavy and a wave of cold sweat broke out of my skin when his eyes started to glow a dull shade of red. I took some wavering steps backward until the back of my legs hit the bed. “You, dear Alessandra, are my bride,” he said in a deeper, booming voice. “You my queen, the only woman who shall stand beside me for eternity and this is our home. I have waited thousands of years for you so we can rule hell together.” When he cupped my chin, tension filled me to my bones. “No,” I whispered with fear in me. “No, I can't be in hell. I can't… Please… No…Please, let me go…Please.” “I should let you go?” He smirked. “No, my queen. You are destined to be here with me, by my side for eternity.” “No… I prayed for another chance. I can't be here.” I placed my hand over his, hoping it would do something but when I looked into his glowing red eyes, shivers from fear went down my spine and body. In his eyes was the truth. In his eyes, I could truly see that this was now my new fate. I was destined to be with the devil? Fuck me.
