Friendship

I remember meeting him for the first time. He emerged from the trees. He was tall roughly 6'2, with a extremely wide but muscular build. I'm guessing he wore larger or extra large shirts; depending on the brand. But none of that is what enticed me, it was his teeth and eyes. Two of his teeth were irregularly long and sharp with a point. They were visible clearly when he smiled or smirked. And oh, his eyes were magnificent to stare into. They were a light grey color that had a blue hue to them. I remember looking into them for the first time on that cold November afternoon. I was alone like any other day, but this day was different because I sat under a tree with my back against it and fresh warm tears running down my face. I was sad because I had no one. No friends, no siblings and parents who were not there for me. I needed a person ,someone, anyone to be here for me but I had no one. So I came here to my back yard to cry to myself in self pity. But in the middle of it all he appeared as a faint silhouette at first; slowly walking out of the woods. Then he began to become a lot clearer to see. His focus seemed to be locked onto my house. Of course even he didn't notice me or hear my soft cries. I was always overlooked no matter the situation. So why would a stranger even notice me? I didn't think about it till now; who is he? I asked myself as I watched him stride toward my house. I hiccuped involuntary from all of my crying and that's what triggered him to look at me. That's when I seen his eyes for the first time. They were now locked onto me and I never in my life wanted to be as invisible as I was before as much as I did now. His eyes started at me like I was so important to him but I'm not sure because I have never had someone actually look at me. I wasn't use to it so how should I know what his stare meant. But before I could muster up all the courage a 4 year old had to react, he was kneeling in front of me. His face was a lot softer looking this time compared to his intense stare just seconds ago. I remember looking at his facial features; looking over every detail. He smiled at me in return, a friendly gesture is what I took it as. But then I saw his teeth and I froze in place. Daddy told me about these type of people. People with pointy teeth and cold skin. Daddy called them v-vamp-vampires. Said they were dangerous but this man didn't look dangerous. That's when my courage came back to me and I spoke. "Vampire. You are a vampire." I pointed at him, like I was accusing him of killing a puppy, but he kept his same friendly demeanor as before. He nodded his head; " Yes, I am a vampire and you are a very observant little girl. My name is Julien by the way, but I'm more concerned why this beautiful little girl in front of me is crying?" He wiped away the tears from my tear streaked cheeks with the sleeve of his shirt. I sniffled, before looking into his eyes. I told him about everything. That my parents had no time for me, I had no friends and I was completely alone. I told him how I wanted to have one friend, just one that I could talk and play with. I noticed that his face was hard and that he stared blankly into my face. He looked mad, but I see could see the water in his eyes swell. The tear rolled down his face, but I wiped it away with my tiny finger. He looked at me astonished. "You shouldn't cry over me." I whispered to him. "Why not?" He asked with sorrow in his voice. "Because you shouldn't hurt like I do. You seem nice and I don't want a nice person crying." Julien started smiling at me. His eye twinkled was adoration. "You, little one are wise beyond your age, and I want to make you a deal. I'll be your friend for as long as you want but you have to try your absolute best to make new friends." Scrunching up my face in annoyance, I decide he should know my name. "Stop calling me girl or little one, I have a name Julien. It's Arianna or Ari for short. And how can we be friends if I can't see you every day?" He rolled his eyes playfully, but pulled a necklace out of his pocket. It had a pretty grey stone in the middle of it. "This." he said point to the necklace, "Is a creator charm. This charm connects to me in any way possible and I will come instantly whenever you need me Arianna. All you have to do is kiss it or a drop of blood from you will work, but you'll only kiss it. I don't need you hurting yourself trying to get blood on it. Now with this I will always be able to know other things to, like your emotions. My eyes popped out of my head. How can only a little necklace do so much. "So I get to keep it?" "Yes, you get to keep it Ari." He gently clasped the necklace around my small neck. "Now, I'll be here for you forever." And that's how it started.
