Chapter 4

Lucius POV

I was passin" through the city on the way back from another pack treaty meetin'. Those things are so f*ckin' borin'. I got out to get some food when I smelled something way better than a taco. It was cinnamon and lily's. I followed it to a building a few doors down, but it looked dilapidated. Why would my mate be in such a place? I opened the door but was met with a force so strong I fell on my *ss!

"Can I help you sir," said a man who magically appeared. A warlock! Of course! She could be an assistant or just here for a meetin' with other beings. I stood up and straightened my black suit, then it hit me.

"Ugh yeah. My name is Alpha Dark of the Forrest Moon pack. I'm here on business." I've heard of this man. Henri, the warlock who took child witches. When I stood up I noticed his rugged features. Brown messy hair, unshaven face, and the smell of so many witches you couldn't count them. I heard of him through other Alphas that bought witches from him. He was not a good man, but my mate was here and I want to see her, so I'll play his game.

"Yes sir. Right this way to my office and I will let you go through the files," he excitedly spoke. This guy was happy to sell these girls like they were objects. I need to remember to come back for him. Oh what fun I will have!

We reach a door and he ushers me through. There's a small desk with potion and spell books all over it. I can smell ingredients and alcohol.

"So what kind are you looking for Mr. Dark?"

"What do you mean?"

"I have witches of all kinds. Water, earth, fire, spirit, wind, powerful, just enough, beautiful, everything you could want from a witch! They behave and only know basics about your kind but they learn quick. So what would you be interested in?"

"Can I look at them," I asked this carefully as not to arouse suspicion.

"Of course! Their pictures do not do them justice."

He led me along the hallways, speaking about their classes and how the process works. As we walked her scent became more clear. My wolf, Declan, was going insane. "Mate," he would say every few steps. His voice getting louder as we inched closer to the last door in the hallway.

"This is our beginners class. Girls who are new and already gained their powers," he told me as if I cared. There was a much older girl in the back of the room. Sitting as if she was completely bored of the world, rolling those beautiful emerald green eyes whenever the woman spoke harshly. Her dark brown hair falling around her shoulders to her back, and I couldn't help but ask,

"Who's the older girl there?"

"Leann. She has yet to gain her powers and she is already 20. She has been through every class and knows everything she is supposed to, but nothing seems to spark her magic. Are you interested," he asked confused like I should not want her.

"Do you care if I summon my witch to see if I can get a read in her?"

"If you already have a witch why would you need another," he was suspicious so I had to fix it. If he knows she's my mate he may use her to blackmail me for goddess knows what.

"My current witch is getting a little...older," Addie was not going to be happy with that. Not even a little, but I know she would do anything to help me get my mate.

"Of course Mr. Dark. Just come by tomorrow with her and I will allow her entrance."

The next day I brought Addie with me to get a good look at my mate. I wanted to see if i could help her gain her powers, maybe it would be easier for her to accept me if I did. The three of us reached the room and Addie had a look at her.

"Alpha, we need to speak privately please," she spoke with concern in her voice after only a moment.

"I understand. Mr Dark you know where my office is. Please come there when you are done," Henri told me. He bowed and walked away.

"What is it Addie? Is there somethin' wrong with her?"

"Yes and no Lucius. She has magic, but I'm afraid it's a unique kind of magic. When I look at her I see a box covered in roots."

"So an earth witch?"

"No Lucius, a Forest witch. The only one since the Moon Goddess' sister. She is a direct descendant, and she will be powerful. When that box opens, we will not know what will come out. I can sense her aggravation and unease. She needs to be in the forest, but we need to do this carefully."

"I got ya. You go wait for us at the pack house and I will be there shortly, with my lovely mate. Be ready for anythin'."

She teleported out, and I made my way to Henri's office. How much would he let me have her for? That sounds awful, and I will be sure to be back to put an end to these shenanigans of his.

"Henri, let's get to business. I want Leann, today."
