Chapter 26: Akton They went through the trader’s cart in the morning. No one had gotten much sleep, but Whitney’s body was gone, the ground clear of her blood. Arvi at least seemed relieved to see it, and intrigued at the smoldering heap of scales and ash that were the remnants of the dragon. Everyone took a few scales, except Wren, who didn’t touch them, and Talfryn, who packed as many as he could fit. “They’re a bit like shifter skins,” said Wren when Akton shot him a strange look. “I suspect a powerful person could coax a little magic out of them.” Akton shoved a few more in his pack, just in case Talfryn needed more for spells or potions. The trader’s cart was different, full of good food, fine canned and brined items, and other special wares. They swapped some of their own rations
