Chapter 29: Akton Wingpoint was a seaside city set on a cliff above the waves. Akton didn’t realize how close to the sea they’d come, but then Whitney had said she’d done her trader’s route on a loop, and this section ended up seaside. Akton could smell the sharp tang of salt long before they neared the city, and the taste of it was thick in his mouth as they trudged up the road. “Whoa,” said Arvi, sketching frenziedly as they walked. Wingpoint bubbled out of the clifftop in pale clay curves, all domelike buildings catching the sun and shining like discarded scales.
