Hope
New beginnings were around the corner in a multitude of undescribable ways. Little did Trixie know that the next phone call would change the rest of her life. Recently she had been applying for a new job, because her current job was a toxic hell on earth. "hello?" she answered inquistively. "Oh good afternoon, is This Beatrice Banks?" "yes it is." "Hi Beatrice my name is Wendy I'm calling from Oasis Insurance, thankyou for your application, we would love to call you in for an interview, and are highly impressed with your resume, would you be avaliable for the 10th May?" "Wendy, thankyou of course I will be, what time would you like me there?" "How does 10:30 sound?" Excited Trixie could not decline, she didn't have the day booked off, but had enough time to book the day she happily accepted. "That sounds perfect, thankyou so much." She walked back into the opticians feeling high and so happy, excitement bursting out of every pore of her being. That night getting home, Anton sprung his arrival on her with no warning. Being a single mum she only had enough food in the house for her and her son. He was expecting to stay the night and eat dinner at Trixie's home, something he had been doing for the last year. After divorcing her husband of eight years she welcomed the company but, Anton was wearing his welcome thin. She was beginning to feel used. "Anton I would of planned a meal for three if I had known you were coming up." "Well you can just get a takeaway," he replied in a demanding way. "yeh I suppose," Trixie responded deflated. She should of been excited to see the man that was her boyfriend, but he had become more of a burden and heart break than the man who her heart held dearly. Sat eating the takeaway she had bought, on her measly wages, eating each mouthful with regret, thinking why didn't I put my foot down and say no, go home and eat dinner at yours, or it wouldn't cost you much to buy some food now and again, she began to tell Anton the good news, about her interview. But all he could go on about was how hard his day was. He was a truck driver delivering goods all over the england. He moaned about the traffic and how much the people at the different yards he had to deliver at were lazy and useless. After dinner she had offered Anton a piece of her Son's birthday cake, being a man who had a sweet tooth she knew he wouldn't decline. She cut them all a slice of home made chocolate cake, and put a teaspoon on the plates and handed him his plate. "Haven't you got a cake fork?" Anton scoffed. Jokingly Trixie replied, "I'm not like you posh Cotswold lot." "No your just common as muck!" Trixie's heart sunk, and she thought why am I wasting my time, being a kind natured person not wanting to rock the boat and ruin the evening she stayed quiet, and begrugingly ate the cake, and then went and did the dishes after. Anton unaware of how cutting his words could be, went up to Trixie's bedroom, put on the television and started to watch the car programmes he liked. Anton being a car enthusiast liked watching documentaries about different cars from classic cars all the way to concept cars. He himself had owned many different cars, and being a single man for over twenty years living at home with his father on a decent salary could afford to, as he didn't have any responsibilities other than paying the electric bill and buying the food. Leaving her son enjoying his xbox games she joined Anton, but the hurt feelings made her lie on the bed with her back turned to him, she told Anton that she was shattered, and shut her eyes, in the hopes he would go to sleep and she wouldn't have to talk to him anymore that night. The following morning he got up at four in the morning, to get ready to go to work, being a clumsy man, he hit his knee on the bed frame, in doing so he yelled, "f**k, f**k, my knee my knee.!" All the commotion woke Truxie up, "your damn bed, I'm always knocking my bloody legs on it." He walked downstairs carrying his clothes, and made enough noise in the kitchen to make sure no one could get back to sleep, whilst he was eating breakfast and making a cup of tea. Trixie stayed in bed and decided it was safer there, pretending to be half asleep. Just before leaving, he walked back up the stairs and sat on the bed beside Trixie, and planted a kiss on her head and said, "I love you beautiful, I hope you have a good day." All Trixie could say at this point was, "I love you to." Rage burning inside her, he ruined her night, made her morning awful before it even started. She only had to get up for seven to get her son up and ready for school and only started work at nine in the morning. Starting her day on very little sleep and her morning on a bad awakening, she was already in a mood before she even set foot out the door. Dozing back off to sleep and stretched out on the bed, she overslept and never heard the alarm. "oh s**t!" "Michael, Michael, you need to get up I overslept, its already half seven, we only got half hour before you need to be at the bus stop." Michael being the typical teenager, was hard to wake up in the morning, Trixie run down stairs quickly pulled her curley locks back, and brushed her teeth whilst throwing on a blouse and her trousers, packed Michael's bag in a rush, run back up stairs to prompt Michael and get him out of bed, "Come on Michael, your going to be late." Luckily they made it on time and Michael managed to catch his bus. Walking to work, Trixie pulled out her headphones and the only thing she could think to play way Iron Maiden, some how the powerful guitar riffs and meaningful lyrics made her cope with the stress she was under. A fragile woman, only wanting to be loved and protected, and be able to live and survive were her only to wants in the world. And she was struggling in every corner of her life. Her marriage had failed not by any fault of her own, other than the fact she failed to stand her ground and let the little red flags pass by before addressing them and soon those red flags become huge banners she had to leave behind. and yet again it would seem the newly found love was becoming the same. Arriving at the opticians, she was greeted with a hostile approach by her colleagues, hot and cold and unpredictable. The only hope she had in the world was the interview.
