Lucian's POV I sat at the head of the long mahogany conference table, my confidence unwavering until my father's voice shattered it. “Lucian can't take over the position” The room fell into stunned silence. The smile on my lips faltered and then crashed entirely. My fingers tightened around the armrest of my chair as I turned to him, my gaze locking onto his firm expression. Determination lined his features, his jaw set as if he had made up his mind long before this meeting had even started. He wasn't going to back down and I could sense this already. I could feel the weight of every gaze on the room, women filled with confusion, others with barely concealed frustration. “Then shall we cast a vote?” Mr Harrington spoke up, his eyes scanning the room “A fake vote will settle this”
