I had barely rolled into the house when I heard the scream coming from my bedroom
At first, I thought I imagined it.
A haunting echo in the silence of the hallway.
But then I heard it again
Louder and more delegated this time around.
Followed by the unmistakable sound of something crashing to the ground
“Rhoda?” My heart stopped.
I didn't wait for a reply. I wheeled forward fast, panic already surging through my veins.
The hallway never felt this long before but now it felt long
Very long.
My breath quickened and my hand began to tremble.
“Rhoda!” I called again, my voice sharp and laced with fear
And then I saw her.
Trying to stand but her legs trembled as she tried to stand still. She placed a hand on the bed for support and my gaze moved to her the face
