Jackson and Abigail left the Blood Crescent territory, and headed to the pack house. The Omegas who worked at the pack house were scurrying around, ensuring that the rooms were ready for their guests’ arrival. Even the soldiers had been pulled out of training and put to work readying the premises.
They had been unsure of the plan, but all had the utmost faith in Jackson and so we’re happy to help. Most were excited about the arrival of the she-wolves, knowing that they could very well be meeting their mates soon.
There were several buildings on the grounds, which Abigail had. It noticed before.
‘I was thinking the families can take over some of the small houses, but the single wolves can stay in the main building?’ Jackson said to Abigail enquiringly.
‘I think that will be perfect.’ Said Abigail. ‘Will there be enough food for everyone?’ She asked.
‘Yes!’ Said Jackson. ‘I’ve ordered extra supplies and we will be having a feast tomorrow evening to celebrate their arrival. I was thinking of putting things in their room to make them feel more welcome. Like maybe some scented soaps or something? Something feminine?’ He asked, unsure.
‘Oh yes, and feminine hygiene products so they don’t have to come asking for them.’ Abigail responded. Jackson thumbed his head with his hand.
‘I hadn’t thought of that. We’re not used to young women.’ He chuckled.
‘Lucky for you, your mate and I have more sense!’ Came Serena’s voice from behind them. She joined them and they looked at the busy workers all around the mansion.
‘Would you like to see some of the rooms that are ready?’ She asked. ‘There’s only a few left to go, and if this lot keeps up their current pace, we will be ready within the hour.’
Abigail and Jackson nodded, and headed inside. Workers were carrying extra plates and food towards the kitchen. The went upstairs and opened the door to one of the rooms, which had been set up luxuriously with a queen sized bed, a bathroom full of toiletries, and a welcome basket of treats on the table. It looked like a hotel room, but was cozy and welcoming. There were a few rooms that were set up with cribs and child sized beds as well, so that there would be a place for every member of the pack to be comfortable. Jackson and Abigail had noted that although a fair amount of she wolves at the Blood Crescent pack had children, they were not part of a family unit. It seemed that a lot of them would just have children when they reached child bearing age in an attempt to keep the bloodline going, and in the hopes that the curse would be lifted and they would birth a baby boy.
Nightfall came, and Jackson dropped Abigail off at home. As her leaned over to give her a kiss, he suddenly stopped.
‘We still haven’t met your wolf.’ He said.
‘I know, things have just been so busy!’ She replied.
‘I’d like you to come and stay at the pack house. I feel like the she wolves would feel more comfortable with you there, and we would have the chance to do some training and help you to transition.’ He said, an air of excitement in his voice.
‘Oh Jackson, you know I’d love that, but I don’t think my mother would ever agree!’ She replied.
Jackson looked deflated, but understood.
‘Speak to her at least.’ He asked, and Abigail nodded, pulling him in for a kiss. She missed being close to him, as they had been so busy with the Blood Crescent lately that they hadn’t really been able to be together. His lips on her felt like heaven, and she felt his tongue thrusting into her mouth and exploring it. She pushed against him, and his hand went to her breast excitedly, wanting to touch her and be with her.
‘We can’t.’ She whispered, and Jackson agreed begrudgingly and let her go.
The next morning, Jackson stopped at the house to pick Abigail up, and was surprised when Laura walked out with her. They both got into the car, and Laura noticed Jackson’s questioning eyes.
‘I’m coming too, it’s time for me to face Caleb. And if I feel that it is safe, I will agree to her staying at the pack house.’ She said.
Jackson smiled widely.
‘She’s always safe with me.’ He grinned.
‘Oh I know,’ Laura agreed. ‘But she’s still my little girl and it’s hard to let go and let her stay with a man, even if you are her mate. It’s still something I don’t fully understand, but I’m trying.’
They drove to the pack house, and saw that Caleb and Remi had arrived early, wanting to check out their surroundings and ensure that it would be safe for the pack. It was clear from their clothes, which belonged to Jackson’s soldiers, that they had shifted into their wolf forms for the journey. Jackson didn’t expect the women and children to do the same, as he would be making several journeys with the soldiers’ minibus to collect them later.
Laura saw Caleb and it caught her off guard. She started to breathe faster, and Abigail noticed her distress and turned around to clutch Laura’s hand in hers.
When they stopped, Laura got out of the car, and mid sentence, Caleb noticed her. He walked towards her, barely holding back his smile.
‘Even more beautiful than I remember.’ He said softly, and he reached out his hand to touch hers.
‘Mate.’ He said softly, and Laura felt something unusual come over her.
‘Mate.’ She said in return, not understanding how it was possible. They looked at each other, both confused as to how this was possible when Laura was not a wolf.
Abigail had heard this revelation, and looked up at Jackson, also confused.
‘I’ve heard of it, but I know it’s uncommon. But sometimes a witch and a werewolf can be mates.’ He said.
Caleb pulled back from Laura.
‘A witch?’ He said, shocked.
‘Yes,’ said Laura shyly. ‘I only found out recently.’
Caleb pulled her into his arms and held her.
‘I missed you so much, all these years I thought you were dead. And then I find a daughter and my mate!’ He said, pulling her into a kiss so passionate that Abigail was forced to look away and distract herself.
‘Well I guess that went well.’ She laughed awkwardly to Jackson, and he also tried to hide his embarrassment.
‘I think I understand why she didn’t want us to be alone in her house now!’ He chuckled.
Once Laura and Caleb had had adequate time to catch up, Jackson and Perry took Caleb for a tour of the grounds.
They showed him the entrance to the woods where the pack could go running in their wolf forms, and the training grounds where the soldiers did their drilled, which was fully equipped with exercise equipment, fighting dummies, obstacles courses and a first aid tent.
‘Your pack is welcome to train with us!’ Said Perry.
‘Thank you, Beta Perry.’ Said Caleb graciously.
The Omegas were busy on the grounds, setting up long tables and caterers where setting up their equipment and lighting fires.
‘What’s all this?’ Caleb asked, his eyes twinkling in anticipation.
‘We thought we’d welcome the pack with a dinner, we will have plenty of food and we thought it would be a good opportunity for everyone to get to know each other.’ Said Jackson, hopefully.
‘It’s wonderful, thank you for all of this. This effort was really not necessary, and I am so grateful for everything you are doing for us.’ Said Caleb, his eyes welling up slightly.
They continued the tour to the inside of the pack house, and the rooms were shown to him. His excitement was palpable, and Jackson wondered to himself how the two packs were ever at war when their Alpha had a childlike appreciation for everything.
Lastly, they showed Alpha Caleb to one of the houses on the property.
‘We thought an Alpha should have his own space, so this will be yours.’ Said Jackson, leading him into a beautifully furnished little house, complete with an office for taking important meetings.
Caleb couldn’t hold it in any longer as the most in his eyes formed full tears.
‘I hate my father for starting this war!’ He cried. ‘If it wasn’t for him, we could have mended fences long ago. You are a good man, Alpha Jackson.’ He cried.
