Chapter2

DEAN'S POV: She was still crying. When we arrived at my house, she was still in tears. “Why are you crying over that guy? He cheated on you. He hurt you,” I said. “I’m going home now, Sir,” Jilian replied. “I’ll take you home,” I said. She stopped crying, but she still looked sad. As far as her work was concerned, she was perfect. But after what happened, it seemed like she wouldn’t be able to focus on her job. ICHAY'S POV: Jilian's boss drove her home, but he left immediately after dropping her off. “Ji… Jilian? Why are you crying?” I asked. She cried even harder when I asked her. “Hey, what happened?” I asked. “We’re over. He has someone else,” she answered through her tears. “I knew that guy was going to cheat on you! I’m going to get revenge for you. I’ll beat him up!” I said angrily. “Ugh, just forget it,” she said before going into her room and locking herself inside. Damn you, Ethan. You kept telling her how much you loved her, only to leave my best friend in the end. That guy is going to get what he deserves. He better not cross paths with me, or I might just be the one to put some cotton in his nose. JILIAN'S POV: I can live without him. I can do this. I’ll just keep myself busy with work. “Sir, please sign these papers,” I said. “I'm glad you were able to come to work,” Dean said. “Of course I did, Sir. Thanks.” After getting the papers signed, I immediately left. Since Sir Dean doesn’t trust many people, I still check on the staff assigned to every event and room. Sir Dean also has a meeting scheduled today, so I went to him. “Sir, are you ready?” I asked. “Yes. Stay here so someone can take care of things,” he replied. So, as usual, I stayed behind. I always take care of our guests, which is why they never have anything bad to say about our service. “Hello, Ma’am/Sir. Good afternoon,” I greeted them. “Dear, this is why we keep coming back here—to see you.” “Because of me?” I asked with a smile. “Yes, because of you. My son wants to meet you. By the way, this is my son, Junie.” Junie shook my hand. “Nice to meet you. Mom, you go ahead. I want to talk to her.” What is this? I’m really not in the mood for this. “Um, Ms. Jilian, are you busy later?” Junie asked. He’s still a customer, so whatever I say could reflect on the hotel. “Um… not really,” I answered. “Can I have your number?” “My number? Sure. Um… here you go, Sir. Excuse me, I’m still at work,” I said as I gave it to him. “Oh, thanks. Okay, thank you for your number,” he said. I had just changed my number because some people kept bothering me, and now there’s another one. Can’t they just leave me alone? I just got out of a relationship! After work… “Are you okay now?” Dean asked. “If I say I’m okay, Sir, I’d just be lying. I’m really not okay. But that doesn’t mean my world is going to stop because of him,” I replied. “Good. I’m going home. By the way, why do you change your number so often?” Dean asked. “Oh, it’s nothing, Sir. I should go now.” I need to keep myself distracted. I don’t want to think about him anymore. I just want to forget him. DEAN'S POV: Bryan had finally returned. “You know what, Bry? I need a secretary to help Jilian. Find someone for me,” I said. “For Jilian? Sure, but why? I thought she could handle everything herself,” Bryan replied. “She’s heartbroken right now, so she needs some help,” I explained. “Wow, look at you being so considerate. Anyway, I’m leaving now, bro. You know I’m busy with business too.” “Sure.” We have plenty of employees, but Jilian is the only one I truly feel comfortable relying on. So, at the very least, she deserves to have things made a little easier for her. Anyway, I suddenly thought about something. The couple who held my family hostage had a child. Where could that child be now? And who is that person? He must be just as bad as his parents. If I ever find out who he is, he will pay for his parents’ sins. Every night, I can’t sleep. Whenever I close my eyes, I remember what happened. And even when I do manage to fall asleep, I end up having nightmares. I decided to visit Grandpa before going to work. When I arrived, I found Grandpa playing golf in the yard. “Grandpa?” I called. He immediately stopped playing and hugged me tightly, as if he had missed me. “You rarely visit me anymore,” Grandpa said. “Yes, Grandpa,” I replied. “As for the hotel, don’t worry about it. We have people there who can take care of everything. You should go out once in a while, okay?” he said. “Okay, Grandpa. Let’s have some tea.” “Sure.” Tea was brought to us and placed on the table. “Do you still blame yourself for what happened to your parents? It wasn’t your fault,” Grandpa said. “Grandpa, I’m going to find the child of that couple. He needs to pay for what happened to Mom and Dad,” I said. “But, son, he had nothing to do with what happened,” Grandpa replied. “Even so, Grandpa. Because of that child’s parents, I grew up without my parents. I grew up missing them.” From that moment on, I ordered my people to find their child. I hope we find him soon. Maybe once that happens, I’ll finally have peace. Maybe then I’ll finally be able to sleep peacefully. I went to work and followed everything on my schedule for the day. I didn’t want to go home yet. Whenever I’m at home, I feel completely alone. But honestly, I’d rather be alone than surrounded by fake people. As I was leaving, I thought I saw Jilian. There was a man trying to get her into his car. She had just gone through a breakup. There was no way she would willingly go with him. I should go over there. “Excuse me. You’re still here, Secretary Jilian. I’ve been looking for you. You need to report to me. Let’s go,” I said. I winked at her, hoping she would understand what I was trying to do. “Oh, right, Sir! Um, Sir Junie, I have to go. Maybe next time, when I’m not busy,” Jilian said. And just like that, Jilian and I ended up talking. We were sitting by the side of the road, in the back of my car. “Thank you, Sir. There really are some persistent men out there,” Jilian said. “You can always reject them,” I replied. “But it could reflect badly on the hotel and on you, Sir. They met me through the hotel, so I can’t exactly avoid them,” she explained. She’s already hurting, and yet she’s still thinking about the hotel? Seriously…
