Chapter 8

JILIAN'S POV: Mandy and I had just gotten back. We went out to grab some snacks. “Um, hi. I’ve been here for a while. I wanted to talk to Dean. We have a meeting scheduled.” — The woman standing in front of Mandy and me said. A meeting? She was barely wearing anything! What kind of “meeting” were they supposed to have? “You need to schedule an appointment first, ma’am, before you can meet with him.” — Mandy. “Um, once he sees me, I’m sure I won’t need an appointment.” — The girl replied. “Um, Ms., that’s how things work here. You need to schedule an appointment first.” — Me. “Ms. Jilian, make me some coffee.” — Dean. “Um, sir, someone wants to talk to you.” — Mandy. “Really? Is it her?” — Dean. “Yes, sir… but she doesn’t have an appointment with you.” — Me. “Oh, she doesn’t need one. Ms., come here. Ms. Jilian, coffee for two, please. Thanks.” — Dean. Why do I suddenly feel so hot? I think I’m getting annoyed at that woman. “Sir saw that she’s sexy and immediately agreed. It’s so obvious he’s a womanizer.” — Mandy. “What? You know what, Mandy, Sir isn’t like that. Besides, looks have nothing to do with business.” — Me. Whew… calm down, Jilian. It’s just business. But that woman was really sexy. What if…? No. Dean wouldn’t do that. I trust him. After making the coffee, I immediately brought it into the office. “Thanks.” — The woman said as I handed her the coffee. “Thank you, Ms. Jilian. You can leave now.” — Dean. What? He’s kicking me out? This is the first time he’s ever done this to me. During all his meetings, I usually stay right beside him. But now he’s asking me to leave… He’s my boyfriend, but now he’s inside with some random woman? Well, it’s probably just business. I should stay calm. Maybe Dean doesn’t like jealous girlfriends. He might get turned off by me if I act jealous. Hehehe. “Ms. Mandy, can you take care of things here for a while? I have something to take care of.” — Me. I need to get out of here… I tried doing all sorts of things to distract myself. After an hour, I finally returned to my desk beside Mandy. “Ms. Jilian, what do you think they’re doing in there right now? It’s been an hour, right? Isn’t that kind of long?” — Mandy. They’re still not done? I had a bad feeling about this. I couldn’t sit still anymore. “Thank you, Ms. Grace. I had a great time…” — Dean. Had a great time? What does that mean? Am I just being dirty-minded, or did something really happen in there? Just smile, Jilian. Don’t let Dean see that you’re affected by that woman. It’s just business, right? If I ask him about it, I might only embarrass myself. “Ms. Mandy, can you show Ms. Grace to our nicest room, okay?” — Dean. He’s even giving her a room? I sat down and tried to calm myself. “Hi, Jilian.” — Dean. Wow. Look at that smile of his. Just smile, Jilian. It’s okay. “Hi, Sir, too. Um… I guess I shouldn’t ask what your meeting was about, right?” — Me. Wait. What is that red lipstick on his neck? My lipstick isn’t red! I immediately wiped it off before anyone else could see it. “What’s that?” — He asked. He was pretending not to know he had lipstick on his neck. I really wanted to ask him what happened, but maybe I shouldn’t. Whatever. He can explain himself. “Y-you have lipstick on your neck. Anyway, go inside already.” — Me. He seemed to get angry. “Come inside.” — He said. What? He’s the one getting angry? He’s the one doing something suspicious! If this is how it’s going to be, I might as well resign. Even if I lose my job, I can’t keep dealing with this. “Um, Sir, why?” — Me. “What? You don’t have any reaction to what happened?” — Dean. “Sir, we’re at work.” — Me. “I already know why. You rejected me.” — Dean. What drama is he pulling now? “You still love Ethan, right?” — Dean. Why does Ethan have to get dragged into this? It’s just the two of us here! I couldn’t hold myself back anymore. “Why did Ethan even get dragged into this?” — Me. “You’re still defending him? Is that how little you care about me? You didn’t even get jealous? Ugh! You’re hurting me now.” — Dean. “Who said I wasn’t jealous? I was trying so hard to control myself! I thought that if I got jealous, we might end up fighting and you’d get angry at me again! Tell me, what did you do in there? You were in there for an hour! If I find out that something happened between you two, I’m resigning! Grrr!” — Me. I immediately walked out after saying that. He probably thought I wouldn’t actually do it. Wait… Why does he even want me to get jealous? Maybe he really did that on purpose! Ugh, whatever. It’s so annoying. How could I not get jealous? It depends on the situation! If I had only seen them talking and he didn’t have lipstick on his neck, I wouldn’t have cared. But he had evidence! That’s what made me jealous. So annoying. “I’ll wait for you in the car.” — He texted me. It was already time to go home anyway. When I got into his car, Bryan was with him. “Bryan?” — Me. “Hi, Jilian.” — Bryan. “Bro, she got jealous. Ugh, finally… so she really does love me.” — Dean. “You two planned this? This isn’t funny, Dean! You’re so annoying! You could’ve just asked me! I would’ve answered you anyway. And what was with that lipstick nonsense?” — Me. “Don’t be mad at Jilian. Your boyfriend is just way too paranoid. Don’t worry about the girl, I know her… Wait, didn’t Grace take a long time to come out? I thought it was supposed to be quick? Weren’t you guys just supposed to let Jilian see you, bro?” — Bryan. I knew it! Dean really had something planned! I glared at Dean. “You two were inside for an hour! What did you do in there? Bryan, was putting lipstick on his neck part of your plan?” — Me. “Um… actually, no…” — Bryan. “See?! Don’t talk to me! What did you do in there?!” I shouted. “Don’t talk to me! And don’t you dare follow me!” — Me. I got out of the car and took a taxi home instead. I don’t want us to fight. But if I let this slide, he might end up cheating on me just like Ethan did. So he needs to learn early on that he should never mess around with other women.
