Chapter 7

DEAN'S POV: When I arrived at Grandpa’s house, this was the first thing he said to me. “Grandpa.” — Me. “Son, when are you going to give me a grandchild? Do you have a girlfriend already?” — That was how Grandpa greeted me. Oh no! Should I tell Grandpa or not? “Seriously, Grandpa…” — Me. “If you don’t have a girlfriend yet, I’ll find one for you.” — Grandpa said. “Ah, Grandpa, I already have a girlfriend… i-it’s Jilian.” — I said nervously but excitedly. “Jilian? Your secretary? Well! Hahaha! Good choice, son. You really take after me. Hahaha! Bring her here sometime. I’ll be waiting for that day.” — Grandpa happily replied. “Of course, Grandpa. Okay, I’ll bring her here.” — Me. After our conversation, I immediately went back to the office. “Mandy, where’s Jilian?” — Me. “Oh, I don’t know, sir. She left in such a hurry. Did you need something, sir?” — Mandy. “Ah, I was just asking.” — Me. Where could she have gone? I called her. Her phone kept ringing, but she wasn’t answering. Ugh, I couldn’t sit still anymore. After two hours, she finally came back. “Sir, have you been here long?” — Jilian. “Yes, for quite a while.” — I answered coldly. “Um, sir, there was an emergency at the construction site. Someone got injured… I took care of everything, sir. It’s all okay now.” — Jilian. “Wow, my girlfriend is really hardworking.” — Me. “Girlfriend?” — Mandy. Oh no! I slipped up. I thought it was just Jilian and me here. “Um, oh my… ahem. H-he just said M-Ms. Jilian. Hahaha. You must have heard wrong.” — Jilian. “Ahhh, I must be going deaf. Haha. Um, sir, someone is looking for you on the phone.” — Mandy. “Okay. And, Mandy, next time, knock before you come in, okay?” — Me. Whew! That was close. But honestly, I don’t really mind if they find out. My only concern is Jilian because she doesn’t want anyone to know about us yet. “Sir, I’ll wait outside for a while.” — Jilian. I talked to the person who was looking for me, and afterward, it was back to work again. JILIAN'S POV: That was a close one! Good thing we managed to get away with it. Hehehe. “Ms. Jilian? Sir seems kind of grumpy, doesn’t he?” — Mandy. “Just get back to work. Hehehe.” — Me. I checked the rooms first and then went outside to check on the guards stationed there. “Um, Kuya, make sure you get some rest too, okay? You guys are doing a good job.” — Me. “Ah, yes, ma’am. Thank you.” — Guard. “Jilian?” — Junie. “Long time no see!” — Me. I was surprised when Junie suddenly hugged me. “I missed you, so I came back right away.” — She said. “Hehehe.” — Me. “Actually, I just got back. I came from Paris, and I’m all alone… and I have a—problem.” — Junie. “You have a problem? Um, anyway, if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here, okay? Just wait until I finish work. Hehehe.” — Me. “Thank you. I’ll wait for you at the coffee shop later.” — Junie. She said that before heading inside the hotel. I wonder what her problem is. Rich people really have so many problems. They already have so much money, so what could they possibly be worried about? I told Dean not to take me home because I said I was meeting a friend. So after work, I went to see Junie. “So, what exactly is your problem?” — Me. “I ran away from home.” — Junie. “Huh? W-why?” — Me. “I found out that I’m actually my father’s child from another woman. The woman I grew up calling my mom is actually my father’s real wife, and my biological mother is already dead. She died when she gave birth to me.” — Junie. I felt his pain. He cried in front of me, and I could really feel everything he was going through. So I moved closer to him and gently rubbed her back. I simply let him cry until he finally calmed down. “To be honest, I don’t really know what advice to give you. I grew up without parents. I was raised in an orphanage. For me, you’re lucky because you grew up with a mom and dad. You had someone you could call Mom and Dad, and your parents were always there to guide you. I think your mom still treated you like her own Son, right?” — Me. Suddenly, I felt sad too. A few days later, Dean introduced me to his grandfather. Actually, I already knew his grandfather, and he knew me too. But this time, Dean introduced me as his girlfriend. “So, dear, when’s the wedding?” — Grandpa asked. Of all the times to ask that, it had to be while I was drinking water! I nearly choked. “Oh, looks like I caught you by surprise. Hahaha.” — Grandpa. “That really surprised her, Grandpa. Hahaha. Are you okay?” — Dean. Dean gently rubbed my back while I was coughing. “I-I’m okay now… Um, Grandpa, we haven’t really talked about that yet.” — Me. “Ah, yes, Grandpa.” — Dean. “Well then, you two should start talking about it. And, dear, you can give me a grandchild first. Hahaha! That might be better. You can worry about the wedding later.” — Grandpa. “Ugh, Grandpa really loves to joke around.” — Dean. “Hehehe.” — Me. Marriage? I’m not ready for something like that yet… We were in his room. Wow, his room was huge! “This room is practically the size of our whole house.” — Me. “Really? Do you want to stay here?” — He asked me. Suddenly, he pulled me onto the bed and wrapped his arms around me. “Hey, Sir!” — Me. “Let’s get married.” — Dean. I tried to pull myself out of his embrace. “Are you serious?” — Me. “Yes. I’m really serious about you. Will you marry me?” — Dean. “Stop joking. I’m not laughing. Don’t joke about things like that.” — Me. “I’m not joking.” — Dean. “I don’t want to. I’m not ready yet!” — Me. “Then why are you getting mad? I’m just asking you.” — Dean. Marriage isn’t something you can just joke about. He’s still so childish, and yet he’s asking me to marry him? DEAN'S POV: Why doesn’t she want to get married? Is it because she still loves her ex? “I know what’s going on, bro. I already have an idea… especially if you’re still doubting Jilian.” — Bryan. “What is it?” — Me. “Um… just leave it to me, bro.” — Bryan. What could Bryan possibly be planning? Whatever it is, I hope it helps me. But I’m still really wondering if Jilian actually loves me. Because sometimes, it feels like she still loves her ex. It’s so frustrating. But why would she say yes to me if she didn’t love me? Maybe she only said yes because I kept bothering her? Maybe I didn’t really give her a choice, so she just agreed? Ugh, I’m overthinking this. Why am I even feeling like this? I hate this feeling. It’s so irritating. Whenever I think about Jilian still having feelings for her ex, I feel completely miserable. Like, seriously, what the freak? Why does her ex even still exist in this world? I wish it were just me.
