Epilogue
Once upon a time..... Well, it would be nice to start this with a fairy tale beginning yet my life is far from a fairy tale. The only thing I guess you could compare my story to is a love story, and I sort of lived happily ever after with my soulmate. Well, now I'm getting ahead of myself.
My name is Sparrow Nightis. I turned 18 on June 3rd. I am 5'3 with long black hair, golden-brown eyes, and a nice figure. With a nice tan complexion. I am Choctaw Indian, and British. That is what my social worker told me. I am a straight-A student, and I hope to get into an amazing college after high school.
For the last five months, I have been trying to get out of my adopted family's house. I hate them, they are abusive and cruel. I have been living with them since I was three years old. Days and hours of court: finally it will soon be over. My social worker has helped me get an apartment. It even turned out that my grandparents left me in there will. So when they passed 3 years back I got all their money. No one knows where my parents are, but I do not mind.
So here I am sitting in my final step to becoming free of the life I once, and still wish I had never been placed into. Free of all the pain they caused me. Just free!
The Judge calls the courtroom to order after the break. The final decision has been made. The courtroom goes quiet with anticipation. While I squirm in my seat waiting for those words that will give me my freedom. Then the silence is broken, "Sparrow Nightes you are hereby emancipated," the judge states, "over the next two months you are to be watched to make sure you keep on a sturdy path. Mrs. Davis, your social worker, will keep an eye on you and come by your residence once a month. If you have any questions or problems contact her. That is all. Case dismissed."
At hearing this I leaped out of my seat and hugged Mrs. Davis, a stout woman with blond hair and brown eyes and a smile that could light up anyone's day, with excitement. She chuckled at my little happy dance and said, "well let's get you home!"
I was finally free of that life, no longer did I have to serve those cruel and cold-hearted people! Walking into my new apartment, which Mrs. Davis helped pick out, I looked around with a smile on my face at the thought this is my new home. My new beginning, though I still had to finish high school. I have already read up on the new school online and even got the enrollment papers. I live in a small town called Lakeview, Minnesota. The school is called Lakeview High. This will be my senior year in high school, and let's just say my story has just begun and it going to be more than teen drama and schoolwork before it even gets close to ending.
