CHAPTER - 08

“You are being absurd, Jess.” Alison remarked with a huff at her best friend who was currently glaring at her in all seriousness. “What is exactly absurd about it, Ali? Can you enlighten me dear?” Jesscia spoke while showing off her fake sugar-coated smile and Alison knew her best friend very well to know that her Jessica was being sarcastic. “Come on Jess. You are telling me to go on a date after a week of my break up with Ethan. HOW IS IT NOT ABSURD?” Alison tried to make Jessica understand but her best friend just seemed to be hell bent on sending her on a blind date. “So, what do you expect me to do? Watch you sulking? Sorry Ali, but I can’t see you being shut down in your room, not anymore at least. Look at you, you practically look like a walking zombie. And why? All because of some asshole. Nope dude, you can do better than that. Get yourself a man and show that fucker what he lost. Make him regret ever cheating on you.” Alison didn’t know why, but the thing which seemed to be too absurd a moment ago seemed to make a little sense now. Somewhere in her heart she too wanted to show her Ex that she had moved on and had been shinning brightly since the day he left her. That was the kind of revenge she wanted. She didn’t want to hide in the comfort of her house, even though that was all she had done up until now, after her break up. But not now, not anymore. It was time to dress up, get some make-up on, put on the highest high heels she owned and set out for a boy-kill. Why? Because she wasn’t going to give Ethan the satisfaction of breaking her while a w***e warms his bed. She was done shedding tears; it was time for revenge. “Okay…” Alison found herself saying and Jessica might be more excited and prouder of her best friend as she rushed towards her and engulfed her in a tight hug, nearly choking her. “Ahhh… Jess let go, I can’t breathe. I will die at this rate.” Alison pushed Jessica lightly in an attempt to break out of the hug which would surely lead her to the afterlife. “Oops, sorry bro. You know I get too hyped up.” Jessica retorted while giggling to herself. “Anyway, when did you make my dating account? And how come you never told me about it?” Alison asked Jessica while staring into her eyes suspiciously. “Ali, I didn’t make your account.” Jesscia stated with a smirk growing on her face. “You didn’t? Then who did?” Alison asked with a frown, confusion evident on her face. “It was YOU.” Jessica told her while laughing so hard that she had to hold on to the sofa tightly so she wouldn’t fall off it. “Me? But I don’t remember making a profile on a dating app.” Her frown just deepened at the revelation as she had no memory of ever making such an account, especially when she hated such apps in general, so how could she have made her own account when she despised such things? “It was a drunk dare. Remember when you had sold out your latest collection within a week. And we had celebrated your success, all those drinks and junk food. We were so wasted that you didn’t notice you had made your account on my phone.” Jessica reminded Alison and she just felt like smacking her head at the memory. “Damn, I had totally forgotten about it up until now. Why didn’t you tell me?” Alison’s face burned in embarrassment. “Because you were happy with Ethan and, besides, it was just an account. It’s not like you used it to cheat or something and I was having my own fun by seeing how many hotties texted you. But now I guess it’s time to actually use that account and find a man.” Jessica winked at Alison as she excitedly pulled out her mobile from her back pocket and opened the app. “Let me see too.” Alison quickly sat beside Jessica and both girls started surfing through the app to find if there was a match. “Look, he is hot.” Jessica showed Alison the picture of a shirtless guy whose abs were on display and his one hand pushing back his hair with a wink while lightly biting his bottom lip. “Yeah, he is handsome, but doesn’t he look like a playboy? A guy that handsome must charm his way to get girls on his knees don't you think Jessa? ” Alison remarked after taking a glimpse at his photo. "Hahaha who cares dear, as long as he is handsome." Jessica retorted with a wink making Alison shook her head in disbelief. "Are you crazy Jess... This is bad.. Let's look for someone more... Decent?" Alison spoke in an attempt to persuade her friend to skip the so - called - hottie. "Decent? Or you mean... Boring. Look Ali we have suffered through many other guys but none of them can beat his sharp like knife jawline and look at those well defined abs yumm. I am telling you, you shouldn't miss this opportunity." Jessica held Alison by her shoulders and shook in as if knocking some sense into her best friend. " I don't see how is it an opportunity Jess. " the devilish smile Jessica was giving Alison, she knew her best friend wasn't upto any good. " Getting a chance to meet this pretty face and maybe even spend the night with him- is surely an OPPORTUNITY my oh - so - saint friend. " Jessica remarked while wiggling her eyebrows. " You are just sprouting nonsense. You know right. " these were such times that made Alison wonder how did they ever became friends despite them being so freaking different from one another. While Jessica was tall with a slender waist that no one could look away and her olive skin and long blonde hair just adding on to her beauty. Here she was with average height and not exactly slim, her short dark brown hair that would fall until the end of her neck. The only thing she was proud of was her ocean blue eyes which she fortunately inherited from her father. If one would at them together, they were indeed stark contrast of each other. But not only in looks even in the way they behaved was so different from one another. While Jessica was popular among boys and a diva, Alison was just a shy and timid girl who couldn't talk to a boy without stuttering and sounding like a broken record. So there was no surprise that Ethan was her first boyfriend- a guy she gave all her first to, from movie dates to kissing in the parking lot. The more special it was to her, the more hurt she got when Ethan shattered all her dreams. Love? Sure now she knew it was load of bullcrap and nothing else. And here she was hoping for her very own happily ever after. But the joke was on her after all. " YOU know jess I can't do that. One night stands are not for me. " Alison reminded her friend who seemed to forget that they weren't talking about trying a new flavour of coffee but actually about having s*x with someone practically stranger. " Okay okay I get it Ali. But I am not telling you to just go and jump at him. At least just meet him. After wasting your time on that good for nothing asshole you deserve this much. Just go meet him, click some pictures. Post them on SNS and burn that asshat. Show him how much you are enjoying. " when Alison heard Jessica, she knew her best friend was right. And wasn't it what she wanted too? To make Ethan jealous. To prove him that she wasn't going to ruin her life because of a jerk. To make him regret the time when the thought of cheating on her had even crossed his mind. Nope, she didn't want him back in her life. But she wasn't just going to let him get away without giving him a taste of his own medicine. " You are right Jess. I guess I will go to this blind date." Alison finally declared without any doubt. " You made the right choice. Here talk to him and decide on time and place." Jessica handed over her phone to Alison so she could talk to the guy and plan out their blind date. Oh, just how much fun it was going to be, Alison thought to herself.
