Sean pulled up at Delaney’s garage apartment about five minutes past seven. He’d needed to drive around the block a few more times to get a handle on his temper after hearing the latest gossip at McSweeny’s Market. People were tossing around Delaney’s name like her life was the latest “it” show to watch. No wonder she tried so hard to be invisible. He’d wanted to set them straight but recognized that would only fuel the fire. So, by the time he’d checked out, he’d ground down a layer of teeth instead. Hauling his bags of groceries and supplies up the stairs, he knocked.
