CHAPTER 12 He listened to the girls leave for work the following morning. It all seemed acquiescent enough downstairs. He didn’t hear any shouting, slamming doors or such. It wasn’t until they were gone that he realised that he was going to be stuck at home all day, until they got back. He had no car, so he either needed a lift or to attempt that walk again if he wanted to get into town. He didn’t feel like either. He’d had a bad night’s sleep and got up from bed with a heavy head.
