CHAPTER 15
While everybody else returned to work the Tuesday after New Year, Mel didn’t. They had spoken over the phone at the weekend, and she had told him she was off for another day. She had been disappointed that he had not shown up for another house party that she had invited him to on New Year’s Eve, but there had been no hope of him making a fool of himself again – even though he had, but not in the same company. She hadn’t seemed to consider this and hadn’t even mentioned the fiasco of the week before.
He had the car for the day – which unfortunately meant that he had had to get up early to drop Cassie into work for nine o’clock, then drive back and come back into town for 11 when Ciara was starting work. After that though, he was free until three o’clock when Ciara was finished
