CHAPTER ONE
YOUNG NAOMI
She was just six years old when things began to change between her parents. She was out in the neighborhood playing with the neighbors around when things became intense inside the house. Both she and the neighbors could hear the two couples exchanging words and shattering things.
"if you want a divorce we can do that quietly,we have a daughter together and she doesn't need to experience all these"Mr Han said to his wife,Han Hae-jin.
"I'm not bothered about Naomi,you can take her if you want to,I don't care Han,but just give me the divorce and..." Hae-jin was about to comment further when Naomi ran into the living room panting profusely.
"mom,dad are you guys fighting again?"Naomi asked looking worried.
"no dear we're not,we just have somethings we're sorting out, that's all, there's nothing really going on" Mr Han assured the worry looking young lady.
"Naomi why don't you go to your room and I'll be there in a sec" Hae-jin said to her daughter who quickly ran upstairs with thought that her folks were only just discussing in a noisy tone.
"Did you really have to lie to her?" Hae-jin asked almost angrily.
"who lied here? ,we both did and besides our daughter is growing, she'll Soon come to know that we are getting a divorce" Mr Han said in a hush tone.
”do you think I care? I only need your signature on that paper and that's all"
"you're being so selfish right now, don't you even care a bit about our daughter?"
"I'll give you time to think it through, make sure I don't come here in vain tomorrow" Hae-jin said and walked out through the exit.
Mr Han fell on the couch carelessly in frustration,he was sure he did nothing wrong to trigger the idea of getting a divorce,or maybe she was seeing someone else and refused to tell him. All these thoughts ran through his mind as he stroked his hair gently in frustration.
"Dad, has mum gone?"The voice of his six year old daughter interrupted his thoughts. He signalled her to sit on the couch and she did.
"Dad is something wrong?,you don't look okay to me " Naomi commented sadly. He noticed the tone at which she spoke and turned to her and took her hands in his.
"Naomi, we'll start living alone without your mother, I hope you can adapt to that" he said sadly
" if it's about mom, no problem I've been practicing on how to actually avoid her before you came up with this good news" Naomi said smirking at her dad.
"why did you call it a good news?"Mr Han asked looking a bit confused.
" recently Mom has developed some kind of weird attitude, it's like she doesn't even care about me and pretends like I don't exist. Whenever she wants to dress my room,a call always comes in and she leaves to answer and doesn't come back until I call her, so I've been dressing my room myself for close to a year now" she explained and only had her father staring at her.
"don't worry dear, we'll definitely survive" he said and Drew her into his arms.

*THE NEXT DAY*
Hae-jin had just stop by at their apartment to hand the divorce papers to her ex husband before getting back into the car to meet her soon to be partner.
Naomi ran downstairs when she spotted her mother stepping out of a car with a strange man.
"Dad did Mom drop by?" she asked
"yes she only did to drop the papers " he replied sadly with the thought that she might start crying again
"good,what are you waiting for? hurry up and sign it before she leaves" Naomi said leaving her father in shock of her words. After so many thoughts,he finally signed the papers and headed out to hand it to her when he saw a strange but good looking man standing beside her.
"Here you go" he said and stretched his hand forward to give her the papers before his eyes clashed with the other guy. After she took the papers,he turned to the other man
"make sure to take good care of her"he said and walked away. Naomi who was watching from her room closed her window and fell on the bed with tearfilled eyes.
Mr Han walked up the stairs in depression as he heard his young daughter sobbing loudly,he stopped for a moment to approach her but he gave it a second thought and decided to let her express her pain as he walked gently to his room.
In the neighborhood, Naomi became an introvert to her fellow kids as everyone was beginning to avoid her wherever she went. She eventually fell into depression and became a very weird kid.She hardly talked unlike before.
Few months later, Hae-jin got married to So-hee,her dream partner and conceived a month later.At this point, life was becoming a bed of roses for Hae-jin and a feel of hell for Naomi and Mr Han. They eventually moved into another smaller apartment as things became harder for Naomi and her father.
She was now eight years old when the news reached her and her father that her just put to bed another child. Hae-jin didn't bother to see her ex husband or her daughter.
She began to attend a new but cheaper school as her father's business began to take the worse turn. Having a three square meal became almost impossible for them as her father became very terrible.
Two days later,she came back from school only to find her father messed up on the floor with empty bottles of beer beside him.
" Dad , what's this mess?"she asked quietly
"Naomi, I'm gonna set you up for adoption, I can't give you the life I wanted for you since you were a kid I'm sorry" Mr Han apologized and burst into tears as Naomi ran to him and hugged him tight
" Dad we're gonna survive, I can give myself that life when I'm older, you don't have to worry about me" Naomi assured.she held her father in a tight embrace for a while before taking him into his room and putting him in bed before heading back to her room almost in tears thinking of what her fate will really turn into without her mother beside her.
