CHAPTER SEVEN: FESTIVE FIGHTS

302 Words
Sophia's phone call with her mom left her feeling guilty and anxious. She knew she had to find a way to balance her relationship with Alexander and her family responsibilities. As she walked back into the mansion, Sophia was greeted by Alexander's warm smile. But as they sat down to dinner, Sophia couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. The conversation turned to their plans for Christmas, and Sophia felt a pang of sadness. She knew her family couldn't afford to celebrate Christmas like Alexander's family did. Alexander seemed to sense her unease. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, taking her hand. Sophia hesitated, unsure of how to explain her feelings. "It's just...Christmas is a big deal for my family, but we can't afford to celebrate like you guys do." Alexander's expression softened. "I had no idea," he said. "We can celebrate together, then." Sophia felt a surge of emotion. No one had ever offered to help her family like that before. But just as things were starting to look up, Alexander's mom spoke up. "Actually, Alexander, we had planned to spend Christmas at our ski resort this year." Sophia felt a pang of disappointment. She knew she couldn't afford to go on a fancy ski trip. Alexander seemed to sense her unease again. "Mom, can't we just stay here and celebrate with Sophia's family instead?" His mom's expression turned cold. "Absolutely not, Alexander. We have traditions to uphold." Sophia felt a surge of anger. Who was Alexander's mom to dictate how they spent Christmas? The argument escalated, with Alexander's mom insisting that they stick to their traditional plans, and Sophia feeling increasingly frustrated. Finally, Alexander stood up. "That's it, Mom. I'm going to spend Christmas with Sophia's family, no matter what." The room fell silent, with everyone staring at Alexander in shock.
