Phone call

Tia and Preeti entered the restaurant around 8 pm. They quickly sat down on a quiet table in the corner. They ordered some food and wine and before it came they started talking.
Preeti started directly without beating around the bush "Ok now tell me, how did you manage to create a whole new David Shreek?"
"I didnt create him. He was always there I just put him in the right place. After talking to you that night I went on to find ways to proove that the fingerprints were fake or fabricated or something. I was taking references in some old case files and that is when I came across the name."
Thats when the food came in and Preeti's eyebrows were in knots. Seeing this Tia explained further.
"This David Shreek guy has always been famous for framing other people for his crimes. That is the only reason the police dont have a photo or any information of this guy. Some even say he is a ghost. Just the name exists. Nobody has ever seen this guy's face."
"How did you know that the victim worked for this guy?"
"I didnt, I just pulled off his old phone records and pointed out an unknown number and said that its David Shreek's man."
Preeti's jaw dropped to the floor
"You just lied? Just like that?"
"Yeah. The victim was selling drugs since he started his teen years. All I needed was a sketchy person's phone number and I knew that phone would have a lot of it."
"How can you lie so smartly?"
"I didnt lie, I just used some information to save a man from a punishment for a mistake."
"You do know Murder is a crime right? Its not a mistake. You have let a murderer out in open. What makes you certain he will not do it again?" Preeti asked with an anxious look on her face.
"He did what he did to protect his daughter. I know he is a murderer but if the man didnt cross paths with him, he would have led a peaceful life. Its the victim and the situation that is at fault here. I never had a father, I would give anything for a father like him but atleast I could help his daughter hold on to her's."
Preeti seemed to agree with her "What if he is the real David Shreek?"
"Well then we can call in a favour when we want. So its a win win situation."
"Wow, you are something.."
"I am something.. you should be proud of me." She was about to say something when her phone rang. The name on the display was not new to her but its been a while.
"Hey Kay-kay how are you?"
It was Keya. Her voice was all worried and scared.
"Hey Tia, I am certainly not fine. I need your help. Can you please come here?"
"Calm down. I know you are scared and worried but are you kidding me?"
"No T, its Owen. The police arrested him last month. We didnt know anything back then. We found out later that one of his collegues was murdered and they think its Owen. He didnt even work there long. It was just one week and then everything happened. I didnt want to call you but the police and many big people are involved in this so I didnt know who to call. Please T, if I was not in so much trouble I wouldnt call you."
"Woah K, calm down. You know I left in a situation. I dont know about coming back."
"Oh T, you dont have to worry. He is in New York. He never comes here and if his grandparents want to see him they travel to NY. Its totally safe. You dont have to face anybody. Please T, I am very desperate."
"Ok K. I will be there in a week. I have some things to wrap up here. I will come after that."
"Thanks T" she said and she cut the call.
Preeti was on her phone and seeing Tia's expressions she put her phone down and looked towards Tia.
"Looks like we are going to take a trip" Tia said without showing any expressions.
"Trip to where?" Preeti asked all excited
"America"
"Wow, I have a big list of places to visit. White house, statue of liberty, Chicago, Florida, ooooooh LA and Las Vegas."
Seeing her excitement Tia got a bit happy too.
"I dont know if we have time for all the places but I can promise you one place"
"Uh-huh which place?"
"New Hampshire- White Mountains"
"I am not much of a mountain person. More like a beach person" Preeti said making faces
"Then I promise you I will take you to just one beach. I got a case there but I dont think I will be able to do it without you"
"Oh, so its a work visit?" She sounded all sad
"Dont be so sad, I will show you my house and school and where I grew up" Thats when Preeti understood
"Oh, are you sure you are ready to visit?"
"I dont know but I have to. Keya is in trouble and she needs my help. She is the one who knows where I was after everything happened back at home"
"I know but I always thought its because your mom died, you shifted here"
"Yeah that too, but there is a lot more"
"Does this involve the mystery person?"
"Yup"
"Will he be there?"
"I hope not. I will never be ready to meet him in my whole life"
Preeti held her hands and told
"Hey dont worry. I got you. I will make sure he dies a hundred times even if he dreams of hurting you"
Tia let out a chuckle and said "Now you sound like a murderer"
"You know the person and the situation is at fault here so you will make another Preeti to proove me innocent" she said with a wink.
They both laughed to their hearts content.
