The snow outside was sparkling when Tia woke up. Its a small town in New Hmapshire. Even though its a small town the neighbourhood was nice and always crowded. Its near the city so most of the people who worked in the city lived there. The chatter in the road started as people were slowly removing the snow from their driveway. Its December and it snowed pretty hard last night. Tia woke up to the fresh smell of sandwiches. She got out of the bed feeling lazy and there came the voice "Tia, get down here now or you are walking to the school young lady" She didnt want to walk in the snow so she hurried and got ready for the school. "Mommy, you worry too much. Its Ok to go late one day if it snowed like crazy the whole night" "Yeah, tell that to my manager and may be he will fire you before firing me." Tia finished her breakfast after planting a kiss on her mom's cheeks. It has been just them since Shelly got pregnant with Tia. The father got all scared and had nothing to do with her or the child. When Shelly's parents found out they also kicked her out leaving her with nothing but 500$ cash. Shelly stood alone on a winter morning like this not knowing where to go or what to do. She was a freshman in the college and it was during Christmas morning when she told her parents about her child. She had nowhere to go. She decided to drop from college and started working in a construction firm as a receptionist. The old man who owned the firm took pity on her when he saw her on the walkway. She told the old man her story and he offered her a job with a decent salary. She worked till her last day of pregnancy and took her new born to office after a month of delivery to resume her job. Time went by and she really worked hard to meet the ends. Her mom would come visit her daughter and grand daughter without telling her husband. It would be just an afternoon visit with lots of food and toys. Tia vaguely remembered her Grandma. She was around 10 when her Grandma passed. Shelly learned many things side by side and kept progressing in her job. It was then when the Old man died and his relative took over the company as the old man didnt have any heirs. The relative of his was a stupid man. He had no knowledge whatsoever about running a construction firm. Slowly the company started to go downwards. Then came the day which Shelly dreaded the most. The company ran into losses and had to be shut down and he sold everything to pay off the debts. The employees were given the salary of the last month and everybody was sent home. Thats when Shelly joined the new car showroom as an receptionist. Life was pretty rough after that but she never let Tia suffer for her poverty. Tia was a bright student. She was a straight A student throughtout her academics. Her dream was to become a lawyer. She knew Shelly has some savings for her college but she wanted to earn her scholarship so she was head bent on receiving a scholarship through her grades. Everything was going smooth till she graduated middle school. The first day of high school and everything started changing little by little in her perfect little world.
