Christmas with parents

1211 Words
Past It was Christmas break. Trey's parents came home during weekend. As usual they bought a lot of presents, but Trey didnt show much interest in them. He missed Tia. It has been a while when they became friends and they almost hung out everyday after school. Now that school is closed for winter vacation he seemed to miss her more than expected. For Tia it was just friendship but Trey's feelings were much deeper than what he thought. He just couldnt bear not seeing her for 10 days. It was the night before Christmas. He was with his parents and grandparents in church when she came. She wore a Red gown with lot of white flowers in it. TREY POV She was lean, petite, having mass in just the right places, her hair tied into a thick braid and still some hair in the front hanging around her cheek and playing around her ears. She also wore matching jewellery. It was like a red rose came to life. I kept staring at her until she was really close to me. "Hey Trey" she waved her hand "Wow Tia, you look beautiful." "Thank you, you look good too in that suit of yours." "Oh, Grandma made me wear it" "Mom, meet Trey. We are in the same class." Shelly looked at me. "Hello Trey, Tia talks a lot about you" she said with a smile. By this time my family came towards me and I introduced them. "You got a bright kid. She really is different. She is the first friend Trey bought home in years" Grandma said "Thank you Mrs. Brent." Shelly said "You can call me Sue" she said "I am Shelly, nice to meet you Sue" "I wish I could say the same" Dad said looking at Tia. Everybody looked at him. He scoffed and took me to the front of the church. The pastor came in and the prayers started. We came home late and it was Christmas morning. I came down from my room and it smelled amazing. Grandma is baking a cake. The breakfast was ready and everybody was on the dinner table. "Good morning" I wished everybody "Hey, Trey. Good morning." Mom wished me. "Trey why dont you open your presents first" dad said "I will open them later" "Why are you upset darling" Grandma asked. "Nothing Granny. I am gonna go to Tia's after breakfast. Can you pack some cake?" I asked her "Sure thing dear" she said and dad cleared his throat "You are not going anywhere Trey" dad said. I dont understand what is the problem with him. Its like he can't see my happiness. I look at him with anger "Dont give me that attitude young man. Micheal told me all about your new friend. How it is affecting your studies. She is bad news. She is just distracting you from your studies. You are not to see her again." "She is my girlfriend" I told him and it got out louder than expected. "Girlfriend?" Everybody was shocked. "Yes. Micheal is just filling your ears with all the cooked up ears because his plan was ruined by her. She is a nice girl and I plan on being her friend or anything that she wants me to be. You cant stop me from being with her." I yelled "Why would Micheal lie about her? You are just too blinded in her beauty" dad said "You are the one who is blindly trusting Micheal. You dont care about me. If you did, you would visit me and check on me not send some pedophile who.... who...." I couldnt talk anymore. Its like something choked me from talking all together. Everybody was shocked from my words. I couldnt stand there anymore. I went upstairs took my jacket and stormed out of the house. I didnt know where to go. I went to the church. There was some charity kind of thing going on in the parking lot so the church was less crowded. I closed my eyes and started praying to God. "Why Jesus why? Why did you give me such unloving parents? I am grateful for my grandparents but why cant my parents be with me? Tia has a loving mom, boys in the school have their fathers playing or teaching them sports. Why cant my parents be normal? What did I do to deserve this? " I sat there asking everything I ever wanted to ask. Thats when someone tapped on my shoulder. I opened my eyes to see Tia. "Hey, what are you doing here?" She asked me. I didnt know what to say but she understood. She sat beside me and kept her hand on top of mine. We sat there for now knowing how long. I started feeling better and then I started to look at her. She wore a green long gown. It had sequins in it, it looked like it was made for her. "Whats up with all the dresses?" I asked "What you dont like it?" She said "How could I not like it. Its perfect, spreading christmas spirit are we? You look like an elf" "I will take that as a compliment. Yes, we were helping in the soup kitchen. Its for homeless people. When my mom came here she used to eat in this church too. So we come here every christmas for helping out the homeless and less fortunate people." "Wow, its a nice thing to do. You should have told me, I would have come too." "You can join now. Its still going on. We are packing presents we got in charity for some kids." "But it already christmas morning. Why are you packing now?" "We didnt get as much presents yesterday. Some gifts showed up today. So we thought may be we will put it under the tree and kids can still get it as a surprise." "Hmm. I can help" "You dont have to if you dont want to. No compulsion. You dont seem to be in a very good mood." "Its ok T. I am ok now." "You sure? I can stay here if you want?" "Its ok T, really lets go" Tia's POV. Mom said its nice to meet you and for that Trey's dad said "i wish I could say the same about you" and stormed away. Mom gave me an earful after reaching home. "Tia, you dont understand what I am trying to say dear. His Grandparents are ok but I dont think his parents have a good opinion about you. I dont want you to see him anymore honey if his parents are not ok with it." "But mom, its not like they are going to be here after this Christmas holidays" "It doesnt matter. Its still not the same dear. I know it would be harder but its just not right." Ok mom. The next morning I knew mom would want me to help in the soup kitchen. We had out breakfast. Mom gave me new headphones. I was really happy with my gift. I gave mom a pair of ear rings I made by myself. She wore it to the church. Its pretty much the same tradition since I was small.
