Soft heart, hard face

When Tia reached the school Trey was already waiting for her. His face was like someone slapped him. He was really jumpy and edgy. She noticed that the first time in three months.

"Hey,are you ok?" She asked worried

"Yup, perfectly fine" He replied without looking at her

"Dont be like that I know when something is wrong with you" she sounded convincing

"Nope, nothing like that. Just worried about the test" he said brushing her off

"There is no test today, it got cancelled. Didnt you see the email?" She asked raising her brows

"Oh! I forgot.. No test, its great. I can focus on the project thats due on friday. You can join me in library" he said hoping she would say no because she already finished her project and he knew that.

"Ok but lets work in the cafeteria. I am a little hungry" she said.

They both headed to the cafeteria. It was a busy hour in school so the cafeteria looked really empty.

"Ok so calculus right?" He asked taking out his Science journal

"No its Trignometry. And that my friend is a science journal. Are you alright Trey?"

"Yeah, I am sorry. I just dont feel good."saying that he left the cafeteria without her. He avoided her the whole day at school. She wasnt the one to push him but she was curious to know whats wrong.

In the evening when they were about to leave she jumped on to the backseat of his car. "Ok spill" she asked.

"What?? Nothing. Will you just leave me alone?" He said harshly

"Not until you tell me whats wrong. A good friend takes care of the friend in all the moods. No matter what they say." She said firmly

"I dont want to discuss anything with you. We are not that close dammit." He screamed

"If you dont want to talk about it thats ok I can just sit here and hold your hands." Saying this she grabbed his hands and he suddenly jumped like reliving a bad memory.

"Dont touch me" he shouted

Now Tia got really scared. She thought its something like his grandparents scolded him or something but this was not what she was expecting.

"Who touched you Trey?" Her question was straight.

He didnt answer. Tears started pouring down his cheeks. He was like that till they reached his home. It was the first time Tia came to his house. Man it was too big. She slowly held his hands and walked with him.

The house was really big. They had a separate garage that could easily fit 4 cars at a time with a large driveway. His house was so elegant that screamed money in each and every corner. It was well maintained and sophisticated.

As they entered the large living room there was a neat couch and in that was sitting a beautiful lady with a book in her hands. As soon as she saw the kids coming she came over to greet them.

"Hello Trey, how was your day boy? I see you bought a friend with you" she said with a big smile on her face

"Hi, Trey's Grandma, I am Tia. We both are in the same class. I just wanted a book that he forgot so I came to collect it." She lied so beautifully.

"Oh so nice to meet you dear. Trey has never bought any friend home. I always thought he was shy of making friends and bringing them home. Come have some cookies and pie."

The kids and Trey's Grandma sat on the dining table. Trey seemed awfully quiet today.

Then inside came a big man. He was almost 6.5 feet tall with a big body. Thats what Tia thought. The mere presence of him made Trey cringe in his seat. Tia noticed this and she knew it right away.

Trey's Grandma spoke. "Hello Micheal, I see you are early." Tia saw his face and an unknown feeling grasped her. It was like she was gonna throw up.

"Tia meet Micheal. He is my son's friend. He came yesterday all the way from New York. There is where Trey's parents are working."

"Oh, NY that is a lovely place." Tia showed fake excitement

"Would you like to go there one day Young lady?" Saying this he came near her to pat her shoulder. She suddenly grabbed her fork and attacked that made a mark in his palms. He was shocked by this.

"Oops my bad I am sorry. I was just trying to taste the pie. Can I get a slice?" She said apologetically.

Grandma didnt really pay attention to this as she was busy making hot chocolate for the kids.

Tia suddenly remembered the time and she told "Is it 4 pm? I gotta go home." Saying this she jumped from her chair and she went near Grandma and told something in her ear.

Grandma looked startled Trey was almost on the edge of his chair when she did that. Then she said Goodbye to his Grandma. When going out Trey followed her

"What did you tell Grandma?" He asked hurriedly

"Nothing. But you need to tell someone whats going on or it may never stop" She gave him a hug and she left.

Trey's POV

He came to my room yesterday night after Grandma and Grandpa went to bed. I was so scared that I ran into the bathroom and locked the door as soon as I heard him coming.

"You cant hide from me" he said with a smirk.

I cant go back to the bed. I will just wait here till he goes back. I waited for sometime and he was still there in my room. I started panicking and eventually I slept in the bath tub. In the morning when I woke up I was sleeping in the tub. Getting up I slowly opened the door to check if he went away but as soon as I opened the door he caught me.

"Where did you put that pretty face all night?" Saying this he started to hugged me tighter and kissed me

"You wait boy. You escaped yesterday but you wont be lucky tonight coz I am gonna make sure of that." He said while leaving my room.

I was dreading of the night. When I went to school it was like Tia could see straight through me. She asked many times but I was not ready to tell anyone about it. So I tried my best to avoid her but then she jumped in the car and tried to comfort me. Holding my hands and thats when I snapped and all those dirty feeling took over . I couldnt stop crying the whole way but when I entered the house it was nice to see Grandma. While I was eating cookies and pie thats when he entered the room. I could smell him from that perfume of his. He went to touch Tia and I was about to attack but Tia injured him with a fork. He gave me a devilish look and a lump formed in my throat. I was about to cry thats when Tia went up to Grandma and said something in her ears. I just hope she doesnt say anything to her. So I rushed back to ask her what she told Grandma and she pulled me into a hug. After a long time I felt like my heart warmed up. I could feel the warmth in her hug. I liked that hug so much that I didnt want her to leave.

Night came as fast as it could. I took longer to finish my dinner hoping I could just sit here till breakfast but its not possible is it?

Thats when Grandma came and told me I could sleep with her. The cozy warm bed of hers, she tucked me in and sat near me

"I heard you had a hard day at school? Do you want to talk about it?" She asked gently

"No" I squirmed

"Its ok. Its just one test. You can do better in your next. I am sure you would do great things some day darling. Dont be upset. I will sleep next to you." Saying this Grandma lied next to me and hugged me. I breathed and just like that I slept.
