Tia, Preeti and Keya went to meet Owen. He was rather not looking good. Had scars all over, it was not possible to recognise him with all that.
Keya started crying looking at his condition. The guard remainded that only 10 minutes are available for talking. Tia looked at Preeti and she understood. She took Keya out telling her that the 10 minutes are important for Tia to ask all the questions to Owen.
"Owen, when Monica called you to her home what time was it?"
"Around 2.30"
"What time did you reach there?"
"Approximately after 20 minutes. I think."
"Dont think. Give me exactly the time."
"20 minutes, I am sure."
"Ok. What did you see exactly in her apartment?"
"I knocked but it was already open so I entered inside. The room was a mess, papers all around, furniture out of place, it seemed everything was moved. I thought she is remodelling or something. Then I called her name and I think I heard something then I turned towards the bedroom. I went near the bedroom door and it was open too so I called her again and asked if I can come in. There was no sound. I thought she is in other room or something and decided to turn thats when I stumbled upon a toy and saw it was all red. Covered in blood. Because it was a Pikachu soft toy. Picachu is yellow, when I bent over to take the toy thats when I found her body near the bed on the other side. I thought if she was still alive, I can help her so I went over to her and picked her up and saw that she was not breathing and she has been stabbed with a knife. I knew it was a murder weapon so I didnt touch it. I panicked and left the house immediately and started running. I sat in my car and drove straight home."
"Why didnt you call the Police?"
"I am no lawyer but even I know that I am in a bad place. Her phone had my number as last contacted and I went there so it might have my fingerprints. I swear I didnt touch the knife. I didnt have any affair with her. Yes, we worked in the same department but it was never more than hellos and good mornings."
The guards entered to take him back to the cell and he started pleading
"I think she knew something Tia. I dont know what it is. I didnt do it Tia, please save me and take care of K for me"
His voice echoed till he turned down the hallway and the door was shut.
Tia was more than confused after listening to him.
"Hey T, did you get all the answers to your question?"
Tia smiled roughly
"I have more questions now"
"What happened? Do you think he did it?"
"I know him so I can say he didnt do it but whatever he said doesnt match with any evidence. Hell if I didnt see the pictures I would have believed him but his story is far from believable"
Keya was listening to everything quietly
"You dont think you can save him? Proove him innocent?"
"I will try my best K. But I got to tell you the truth. It looks pretty bad."
"I have put my faith in you Tia. If you cant save him then I dont have any more hopes."
"Hey Keya, Tia is very hardworking and vigilent. You dont worry. Prooving people innocent is her speciality. You wouldnt believe if I told you about the cases we won. She will turn heaven and earth to save your husband. I promise" Preeti calmed her.
"I still have to tell you something Tia." Keya looked worried.
"Dont tell me now K. Lets go to my old house and we can talk there."
They agreed and it was a short drive to her house. As she entered the yard it was so nice to see everything exactly the same as she left them. She looked at Keya and Keya smiled.
"I had it cleaned when you agreed to come here."
She opened the door. Everything was the same as her mom arranged it. The couch, kitchen, living room, bedroom, everything. Her mom used to love arranging the furniture and other things and then it hit her hard. As soon as she entered the kitchen that her mom wont be standing there cooking something for her. Tears started rolling in her cheeks, she entered her bedroom it was empty as she took everything after she left her home. Then she entered her mom's bedroom, where she took her final breath. She lied in the bed and cried for some time. Both Keya and Preeti decided to give her some time alone. After some time Tia came down and found both her friends talking in the backyard.
"Thank you Keya, for taking care of my home."
"Anything for you T."
"K, what was it that you wanted to tell me?"
"Yeah, Monica was pregnant."
"What?" Both Tia and Preeti opened their mouths wide.
"Why did you not tell me that?" Tia asked
"Its not mentioned in the Coroners Report of Autopsy. I am a gynecologist and Monica came to me some weeks before she died and I confirmed her pregnancy. When the police said that Owen had a affair with Monica, I was about to tell them but then I remembered that the police is in it. They all are trying to cover up something."
"Owen also told me that Monica knew something. Now when you say that the police is in it together, I think its something bigger."
"Yes, in the autopsy there is no sign that she was pregnant. However, I think its the Mayor's Son who is the father."
"Did Monica tell you that?"
"No, but when I asked her she didn't deny it."
"Thats not enough to prove that it was the Mayor's son's."
"But thats enough to prove that Owen had no affair with her" Preeti said
"You told that Owen just joined the office one month ago and Monica came to you few weeks before she died and how far long was she then?" Preeti asked
"14 weeks"
"That means the baby is not Owen's" Preeti said
"I think that is why they never mentioned the baby Preeti. Then they cant frame Owen because Owen only knew her for one month. But if we prove that there was a baby then may be we can weaken the case a little bit. Keya do you have proof of her pregnancy?"
"Yes T. We have her patient file. Once we go home I will call the nurses to send it to you."
"No Keya. I think we are being followed. I will come to your office tomorrow and collect it personally."
Later Tia told Keya that staying in her house will be dangerous for Keya. So Preeti and Tia decided to stay in Tia's home.
