Chapter Nineteen: Overwhelmed

278 Words
EMILIA'S POV I lay in the hospital bed, my mind racing with thoughts and emotions. I couldn't process what I saw, what Elijah and Sarah were. Werewolves? It sounded like a myth, a legend. But I saw it with my own eyes. Elijah kept trying to talk to me, to explain, but I couldn't listen. I was too scared, too overwhelmed. Sarah came in, trying to calm me down, but I just wanted them to leave me alone. I needed time to think, to process. But Elijah wouldn't leave. He sat beside me, holding my hand, looking at me with those piercing eyes. "Emilia, please," he said. "Just listen to me. I know this is a lot to take in, but I need you to understand." I looked away, trying to avoid his gaze. But he just kept talking, telling me about their world, their secrets, their rules. I felt like I was drowning, like too much information was being thrown at me. I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. And then, Elijah said something that made my heart stop. "Emila, we are connected, can't you feel the sparks when we touch." he said as he grabbed my arms I felt a chill run down my spine. What did he mean? But Elijah's expression was soft, gentle. "I'll protect you, Emilia. l'll keep you safe. But you have to trust me." I didn't know what to say, what to do. I was trapped in a world I didn't understand, with creatures I didn't know. All I could do was stare at him with tears in my eye, hoping that somehow, someway, I would find a way out of this nightmare.
