As I watched Emilia go inside her house, I felt a sense of relief. I had made it through the drive without losing control.
But as soon as she was out of sight, Kaelos spoke up, his voice echoing in my mind. "Elijah, why are you doing this," he said, his tone gentle. I only want what's best for you."
I was taken aback by Kaelos' gentle tone. I had grown accustomed to his fierce and dominant personality, but now he seemed... calm.
"I don't want to hurt her," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Kaelos chuckled, a soft, rumbling sound. "I would never let you hurt her," he said. "I know you care for her deeply. And I do too."
I was surprised by Kaelos' words. I had never thought of my wolf as being capable of gentle emotions.
"What do you want from me, Kaelos?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.
"I want you to let me out," Kaelos said, his voice still gentle. "Let me show you what it means to truly connect with Emilia. Let me help you build a bond with her that will last a lifetime."
I hesitated, unsure of what to do. But Kaelos' gentle tone put me at ease. Maybe, just maybe, I could trust him.
"I understand what you're putting out, Kaelos," I said, my voice thoughtful. "But I need you to hold on for now. I need to get to know Emilia better, to understand her and her feelings."
Kaelos sighed, a soft, rumbling sound. "Very well, Elijah," he said. "I will wait. But know that I am eager to meet her, to connect with her and strengthen our bond."
"I know, Kaelos," I said. "And I promise you, it will happen soon. But for now, let's just take things slow and see where this journey takes us."
Kaelos nodded, his presence receding into the back of my mind. I could sense his patience, his willingness to wait for the right moment to emerge.
I smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards my wolf. For the first time, I felt like we were working together, like we were a team.
And with that thought, I started the car and drove home, eager to see what the future held for Emilia and me.
