Years later.
The mansion was quiet now. Adam was seven, at school. Alexander and I sat on our favorite balcony, the same place where he first told me he loved me.
"Seven years," he whispered, kissing my hand. "Seven years since I bought a wife for 10 crore."
I laughed and hit his chest lightly. "You will never let me forget that, will you?"
"Never," he smiled. "Because that's the day my life actually started."
The wind blew through my hair. I was no longer the scared girl who signed a contract. I was Amelia King. Wife, mother, queen of this empire. And most importantly, loved.
"Do you remember our first night?" Alexander asked, his eyes dark with memory. "You were so angry. So beautiful."
"I remember you were cruel," I teased back. "You told me I was just a business deal."
He pulled me into his lap. "I was a fool. A billionaire with everything, but blind to the most precious thing standing right in front of me."
Adam ran in then, his school bag bouncing. "Mama! Papa! I got first prize in drawing!"
Alexander picked him up and swung him around. "That's my boy! What did you draw?"
Adam proudly showed us a paper. It was our family. Me, Alexander, and him holding hands under a big sun.
I cried. Happy tears this time. No more tears of pain. Only joy.
That night, Alexander took me to our bedroom. He opened the safe and pulled out a paper. My old contract. The one I signed for 10 crore.
"Why do you still have this?" I asked, shocked.
He took out a lighter. "Because tonight, we burn the past. For good."
We went to the balcony. He held the paper over the edge and lit it. The flames ate the words. Bought. Sold. Contract. 10 crore. All of it turned to ash and flew away in the wind.
"No more contracts," he said, pulling me close. "Only promises. My promise to love you forever. Your promise to drive me crazy forever."
I kissed him under the stars. "I promise, Mr. King."
"And I promise, Mrs. King. From 10 crore to priceless. From sold to soulmate. From a cruel deal to forever love."
The ashes disappeared into the night. But our love? That would stay. Always.
We were no longer bound by paper. We were bound by heart. By soul. By every beat that said 'I choose you'.
This was our happily ever after. Not bought. Not sold. Just loved.
Forever and always. Until the end of time.
