The Proposal Party

740 Words
One week after the real proposal. Alexander had gone crazy. He wanted the whole world to know I said yes. "The King mansion needs a party," he declared at breakfast. "A huge party. To celebrate my wife." "Your wife who you bought for 10 crore?" I teased, sipping my tea. He walked over and pulled me into his lap, ignoring Adam who was babbling in his high chair. "My wife who I would buy again for 100 crore. For 1000 crore. You're priceless, Amelia." I blushed. Even after a year, he could still make me blush like a schoolgirl. The party was tonight. The entire city elite was invited. Business partners, celebrities, even the mayor. Alexander wanted to make a statement. That Amelia King was not his bought wife anymore. She was his queen. I was in our bedroom, getting ready. I wore a red dress that hugged my body. The same color as the dress I wore on our first wedding day. But this time, I chose it. This time, I was free. Alexander walked in and stopped dead. His eyes darkened. "If we didn't have 200 guests downstairs," he growled, "I would cancel this party right now and take you to bed." I laughed and walked to him. "After the party, Mr. King. Be patient." He grabbed my waist. "I've been patient for a year, Mrs. King. My patience is running out." Downstairs, the mansion was full of music and laughter. But I noticed something strange. All the guests kept looking at me and whispering. Not in a bad way. In an excited way. Alexander took the microphone. The music stopped. "Ladies and gentlemen," he said, his voice filling the room. "Thank you for coming tonight. Most of you know how my marriage to Amelia started. It was a business deal. A contract. 10 crore for a wife." The room went silent. Some guests looked uncomfortable. They all remembered the rumors. Alexander continued. "What you don't know is how it ended. It ended with me on my knees, begging this woman to love me. Begging her to stay." He looked at me, his eyes full of love. "Amelia Jones came into my life as a purchase. But she became my savior. She taught a dead man how to live. She taught a cruel billionaire how to love." He pulled out a small box. "A year ago, I gave her a ring with a 10 crore contract. Tonight, I give her a ring with my whole heart." He got down on one knee. Again. In front of 200 people. "Amelia King, will you renew our vows? Will you marry me again, not for money, not for business, but for love? For forever?" The room erupted. Cameras flashed. People clapped. I walked to him, tears in my eyes. "Yes, Alexander. A thousand times yes." He slid the new ring on my finger. Right next to the sapphire one. Two rings now. One for the past we survived. One for the future we would build. He stood up and kissed me. A real kiss. Deep and full of promise. The crowd cheered. Later, as we danced under the crystal chandeliers, I whispered to him. "Was this all necessary? The party? The 200 people?" He smiled against my hair. "Yes. Because I spent a year telling the world you were a transaction. Now I need to spend forever telling the world you're my everything." Adam was brought down by the nanny, wearing a tiny tuxedo. Alexander picked him up and we danced as a family. The photographers went wild. The headline tomorrow would be: 'Cruel Billionaire's Heart Melted: Alexander King Remarries Wife For Love' But I didn't care about headlines. I only cared about this. His arms around me. Our son between us. Our forever starting now. "Do you regret it?" Alexander whispered. "The 10 crore? The sold marriage? All the pain?" I looked up at him. At this man who was once my devil and now my angel. "No," I said honestly. "Because without the 10 crore, I would never have found you. And you're worth more than all the money in the world." He kissed my forehead. "And you're worth more than my entire kingdom, Amelia." The party went on till midnight. But our love story? That would go on forever. From 10 crore to priceless. From sold to soulmate. From contract to forever. This was our happily ever after.
