CHAPTER EIGHTEEN Vehicles from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department lined the center of the highway, blocking traffic, their lights flashing, as Ashley maneuvered her sedan behind Daniel’s unmarked Toyota. She’d been instructed to keep off of the shoulder to avoid destroying possible evidence from tire treads. Two more nondescript cars also hugged the road. She assumed they belonged to other TBI agents. She didn’t see the medical examiner’s van. But she knew the ME that served the county lived in Cedar View, so it might take him a while to arrive at the scene.
