The Beta and her Alpha

Chapter 8 - Happy Birthday!

Zane went to his room, to get ready. Leaving me to shower and get ready. The pack still thinks I am his beta and doesn’t know I’m his mate yet. But now we will be walking in, arm in arm, Marked. How crazy is that. Just then I hear a knock on the door.

“come in.” I yell as i wrap a towel around me walking out of the bathroom.

“Hi, honey. Happy birthday my baby girl. How are you and your wolf doing?” My mom walks in and greets me asking a good question.

“Callisto and I are fine momma. How are you and dad?” I answer questioning her back.

“We are sad that our baby is growing....IS THAT A MARK? WHO IS YOUR MATE?” Age gasped with shock striking her face as she noticed the crook of my neck.

“I am growing. That includes becoming mated. It was supposed to be a surprise when we walked into our birthday party.” I smiled lightly.

“OUR? ZANE! NO! We always new you were special but Alice! Our little girl, our future Luna.” She holds my face in her palms, her face glowing with pride.

“Yes momma, and more than just that. You know the prophecy? The powerful luna? I am her. It’s a secret, we need to keep me safe.” I whispered.

“Oh my! My baby... okay let’s get you ready. Enough pinning, we have to make you look stunning as we are announcing you as the next Luna when you walk in with that mark on your neck.” She giggled.

I walked into my closet and put on a matching bra and panty set. After that I grabbed my dress. Walked over to grab a beautiful pair of shoes to match and walked out and over to my bed. My mom walked over to look at my dress as i took it out of the dress cover.

“Oh, Alice, it’s like you knew you were going to be luna when you picked this out. It’s gorgeous!”

“Something in me told me to get it. All 7 other dresses were completely different from this one. I had to get it. I didn’t even show anyone when I tried it on because I felt it was special.” I replied as we stared at the black dress, sleeveless, satin, a-line dress with a small train and a slit up the side and in the middle of my chest is a black see through material leading into lace and then into dress. We stopped staring and started getting ready beings now I only have 2 hours left and my hair was still wet.

We curled my hair and put in a head band the has diamonds all around it. After hair we did a Smokey eye and winged eyeliner and a red lip. My mom was tearing up the whole time trying not the let the tears fall from her eyes. A proud momma she was.

I slipped on my heels and stood in the mirror eyeing our hard work. I felt so beautiful in this moment. Callisto flashed her eyes at me in the mirror getting a glimpse at us and let me know she approves. I smiled widely and headed towards the door with my mom when in popped Zane and my heart fluttered. The smell of delicious apple pie engulfed my senses making me weak in the knees. He was in a freaking tux! All white with a black shirt... what a power move.

“Atlas, that sly little wolf.” Callisto smirked.

“Alice...” he gulped. “You look absolutely stunning.

Zane’s POV

I got ready with my dad. Atlas picked out a white tux and black shirt to go under. I knew what he was doing. It made me smirk.

My dad and I talked about small things about the pack and how me and Alice were doing and that she marked me. He was battling between excitement and worry because of Lesley which I then told him about Callisto and her powers.

“She can smell someone’s blood line? That’s insane.” He gaped.

“And more but Callisto wants it to be a surprise as they come in.”

“Special wolves always want it to be a surprise. It’s been this way all throughout history because wolves like to gift their skin sides with what they were given my the moon. It’s the special wolves way of bonding.” He stated.

We finished up the final touches and i gave Atlas a glance of what we looked like in the full size mirror in our room. He was puffing his chest in the back of my mind showing his pride for us looking so good. My dad said his good byes and that he’ll see us at the party and happy birthday. I closed my door behind me and descended down to the beta floor to pick up my beloved birthday girl who shared the same birthday as me. She was the best birthday gift the moon goddess could’ve ever given me.

I enter her room and I was stunned. I couldn’t move. The way her lilac scent filled swarmed my senses was so amazing. She was my gift from the goddess and I couldn’t wait to show her off.

“Alice...” I gulped hard. “You look absolutely stunning.

She blushed and said thank you as I took her hand and guided her out the door and to the elevator. I was taking her to our party as my mate, my luna, my forever. Sparks were flying as we help hands and you could tell we wanted to give in and run back to our room but we had the pack waiting for us and we can’t let them down.

We got to the car and I opened the door and helped her into my truck. I got into the drivers sides and was heading to the Ball room on the other side of our pack lands. I was roughly 20 minutes from the pack house. It’s a beautiful place but does not hold a candle to my girl.

Alices POV

The drive was a comfortable silence both smiling ear to ear but not knowing what to say. I decided to break the silence.

“Happy Birthday Z.” It came out almost as a whisper.

“Happy Birthday princess.” He smiled brightly. “Are you ready to basically announce that you are my mate and our future Luna?” He added in.

“I believe so. I’m holding you up to your promise just so you know.”

“I wish I didn’t even put my self into a situation that I had to promise it. I just wish I could do it without the promise. But, I don’t want to bring down the mood with my mistakes. How are you and Callisto?”

“We are good. Taking everything minute-by-minute. We love how you look and the white bounces off my all black dress and the black shirts pulls it back in to perfectly compliment each other.” I beamed.

“I love you Alice, you don’t have to say it back. I just want it known how i feel. I hope we have a great night.”he says as we pull up to the Ball room.

He gets the truck door for me and we walk arm in arm to the doors. Zane mind links someone assuming its to open the doors because that is what happens. We walk in and head up stairs to a private suite until we make out grand entrance.

We hear shuffling of wolves piling in chatting away. You can hear the smiles on their face through their voices. True happiness. It made us smile and the conversation about are future pack made us feel warm and fuzzy. Happiness flowed though the mate bond making us beam at each other. Alpha Mark mind linked the two of us that it was time to come down.

We got up and went arm in arm again and walked out the sweet doors and to the elegant stairway. Once in view you heard gasps and then a sudden thunder of claps cheers and whistles. Zane emphasizing my mark on his neck as he walked down with me. As we reached the base of the steps Alpha Marks voice boomed through the speakers announcing the birthday pair.

“My pack, my family, I would like you to take a look at our birthday pair this year! 18! What you also may have notice, i heard some gasps, they have found their mates!” Some cheers coming from the crowds of seated people. “Who are these mates we speak of?” He adds a pause for a dramatic effect. You hear whispers and some shout our RJ for me and Lesley for Zane and a few random other names for the both of us but never each other for one another. It made me giggle. They saw me as there beta. “It is with big hearts that I Alpha Mark and Luna Jane welcome Alice to our family and our Future Luna. They are mated together!”

Cheers came from every angle of the building when i saw out of the corner of my eye, Lesley storming out seething over her not being his fated or chosen mate. She has lost to me twice now. Ouch. Must hurt.

RJ came up and hugged us both and wished us happy birthday. We talked for a few minutes. We talked about Callisto and how we can’t wait until we all can shift together once his birthday and shifting ceremony comes. As we ended our conversation with RJ, we got hugs and congratulations from everyone and the music began to blare. People filed in line to get food but we weren’t hungry. We always snacked before parties cause of the lines, even thought the higher ranks get in line first

Zane then pulled me onto the dance floor to get one dance before we get pulled apart by our families. We ended up getting to dance to more than a few songs. Some slow and some bumping and grinding dances that we were more than okay with. I finally let my guard down. I fell in love within 5 songs with my mate. My alpha. My forever.

“I love you too” i whisper in his ear, thank god for wolf hearing because he heard it over the music.

He wrapped me in a hug and kissed me deeply. “You just made this the birthday i have ever had!”

“Same to you Zane.” I blushed hugging him tight as we swayed to the music.

His mom and my dad came to interrupt to get their dances in. I love my dad but he has the worst timing.

We danced to our song talking about how fast time has gone. We had small tears fall remembering all the good times together and when i was super little. He was the best dad ever to me and Jake. My mom joined in at some random point and we welcomed her with open arms.This is how our lives should be. Happy, full of love, and simple. Something told me this was the calm before the storm but, I ignored it for now to enjoy the good times for a little longer. The moon goddess was granting me one truly happy day. The song finished and Zane came to scoop me off my feet and to a table with two plates of food and thank goddess cause i was now starving. He was trying and I am letting him. Callisto was so freaking happy. I can sense that Atlas was booming with pride and happiness as I let them care for me.

The food was delicious and I moaned with the first bite.

“If a moan escapes our mouth it need to be from me giving you pleasure.”

“Hi, Atlas nice to meet you.”

“Nice to finally meet you Alice. Can I speak to Callisto? I know its not my time but, please?”

“Of course!” It was really no problem. They talked for a few minutes and I gave them their privacy. I am happy we could give them some time too until we can shift. They love deeply for each other already and I would just be selfish if I didn’t give them time. We finished our food and Zane took me by the hand again to slow dance. We ended up dancing for a while until my feet starting hurting so her carried me to the truck bridal style and put me in the car.

We drove back to the pack house having small talk about the night. Like how my cousin Janice banana peel slipped on the dance floor and his aunts wig fell off. Wolves party hard. It’s always a great time at a wolf pack party. But, we reached the house and he again carried me up to my room and sat me on the bed no helped me remove my shoes. I took off all my accessories and dress. He was shocked to say the least but I went into my closet to put on a tank top and soffee shorts and came out to sit at my desk to take my make up off.

“Can I sleep with you in your bed tonight?” He asked softly bending over top me and kissed the side of my head while I removed my make up.

“Of course. Soon we will have our own room together.” I smiled at him.

“I’m going to mind link Rj to bring me some clothes. I don’t want anyone to try and keep me from you.” He gave me a tight lipped grin. I knew what and who he meant.

A knock at the door made us jump. That was scary quick. Zane got the door and Rj handed him the clothes and wished us happy birthday again and made his down to the gamma floor. Bestest best bud ever.

Zane quickly changed and can over and offered me his hand.

“Ready for bed baby?”

I just nodded my head and we headed to the bed. We cuddled close and kissed each other sweetly.

“Happy birthday baby girl. I love you”

“Happy birthday, I love you too.” I whispered as i fell into a deep slumber.
