13 : Scent

Lily Angrily showing my most important and favorite clothes inside the bag, I breathed and stopped for a second to think. Maybe if I go for the run then maybe I can try to escape? I can't be taken away and locked like some stray dog. My mind was still confused about the all things I learned, of course I needed my time and space but the man of trouble didn't give me that. He said that if I didn't pack my things, I will go without any. Asshole. When I was done, I grabbed my secret knife and hid it inside my boot. If I'm lucky enough, I will not need to use it. Looking around my room, I longily took the image in my memory and with a sigh left the room. For how long, I didn't even know. "You ready?" the deep baritone voice stopped me in my tracks when I was in the living room and I saw Noah besides the covered window, like he was watching behind the curtains to see what is outside. "I wish I wasn't," words filled with sarcasm, I rolled my eyes and just about to take my keys when in a blur I was tackled to the ground by much bigger body and with force we both hit the floor. There was a second long silence while I was in shock when we heard a gunshot hitting right in the middle of the wall in my living room, three times giving me a jump scare everytime. I was shaking when the loud noise ended, realizing just now that Noah has protected me and I was laying between his arms underneath his massive body. "Noa-hh?" my voice trembled when his finger on my lips shut me up and I watched his eyes glowing in the dark watching and waiting something. "Don't. Speak," his deadly whisper made me freeze and I listened to hear it too what is going on outside my house but there was nothing. Of course it gave me a green light to be dumb when I opened my mouth again. "I think they are go-omhhhh!" clamping my mouth shut with his hand, Noah leaned in my face and growled, " Didn't you get it the first time I said it? Don't speak or we are dead. They are covering their scents so I don't know how many are there. With me being injured again and distracted by them, I can't protect you where you can be snatched under my nose and we can't have that, are we clear princess? " I just nooded my head, a lone tear slipping from my eye when I realized the situation and his angry tone scaring me to death.. " f*****g god, not tears right now, " growling, he swiped the wetness off my cheek with his thumb with a gentle caress and that made me c***k again and I let out a little sob. "I'm sorry, I can't help it," my voice broke. "Kitten," sighing in frustration, Noah pressed his lips firmly on my forehead, giving me a chaste kiss to calm me down. "They will not hurt you as long as I'm alive so please stop the tears, I will protect you but we don't have time for breakdowns, we need to move and fast, understand?" whispering against my skin, I just nodded but I knew my nerves were all over the place because the fear in me didn't left me. I trusted him to keep me safe, I don't know why but knowing that I'm his mate, not knowing if even that was true, I felt somehow inside me that he is the one person I should trust fully. The dumbest thing but still. "That's a good girl," smiling down at me, he looks up and thinks for a second, missing my flaming cheeks hearing his praise and I wait for his next move. "We will cover our scents first and then we move. Need to leave this place faster because later will be too late, I don't need them to see you," forcing himself up, he helps me stand too when we silently tiptoe to the bathroom. Closing the door, I watch Noah grabbing in his coat pocket and fishing something out of it. When I see the little bottle with liquid inside, I frown. " What's in it? " The man gives me a silent chuckle when he opens the cap and walks closer to me. I don't even protest when he taps my chin so I force my head up. Brushing the tip against my lips, he holds the bottle in his hand and takes a hold of my neck gently. " Open up for me." I started to protest then. "But you didn't even say it what's - ohhmmhh," I cough when he manages to trick me and slips the tip inside my mouth so the liquid slides down my throat. Its bittersweet and I cough again from shock and anger. When the need to spit it out takes over, Noah gives me a warning look and closes my mouth shut with his fingers and I can't but swallow it down and let it happen when I drink the thing. "You asshole! Do you want to kill me?" I shout but shut myself up when I see him drink it too in one go. What the...? "The drink will cover our scent, it will give us a chance to walk out of here so be a good girl and listen to me if you want to survive, are we clear?" growling until I see his glistening canines and flashing gold eyes, I gulp under his stare keeping silent. Well, he has a point. "What now?" I whisper. "Now we move, like I said. Just follow my lead and all will be okay so please don't wander around because I need my eyes for the enemy if they catch us. Don't let them take you because you happen to lose me. For that matter, I hope it doesn't come to that, okay? " Taking my hand in his bigger one, he pulls me closer to him until we are inches apart. I blush under his gaze. " What is it? " Noah shakes his head and dips his head down so his nose touches my neck. I shiver when he inhales and deeply breathes in, taking a tight hold on my waist embracing me to his wide chest. "When this is over, your scent will be back. Glad that it isn't as sweet as it was before, your scent is gone for now. The drink helped," murmuring under his breath, his lips brushes against my skin like a feather and I gasp. " Noah? How long it will cover our scents? " I blink in daze when he pulls finally back, giving me those glowing eyes I know. I find in them comfort now instead of fear. " Should be three days but It can wear out faster if we touch." I'm confused, "Touch what?" He smirks and looks away, the moonlight giving him a mysterious look, even dangerous if I can say it and somehow I find it hot. I should be focusing on the danger we are in but instead I think only about him and his sexy looks. Jesus, what is wrong with me. "Nothing to worry your precious little head, kitten. Its time," pulling away so we don't touch each other again, I suddenly feel cold without him and watch him grip the door handle. "Showtime," I feel his grin and with a racing heart I follow him out of the door into the deadly night.
