8 : Wolves

The next day I was in much better mood actually, compared to the yesterday. Even all the problems about library's debt, I made myself think positive so I can stress less. Remembering my interaction with the handsome stranger who disappeared, I really don't know where, it made me feel butterflies in my stomach. Something about him was really off but I don't know what. I just know - it was just the beginning for that story.

Putting the last delivery romance books on the shelves, I was ready to go take a lunch brake. Lately I was so busy with work, I didn't even had the time for myself. It looks like I'm just working my ass off and resting only when I am home at bed but no, actually I was studying arts when I had the days off work. It was my second hobby, not counting reading books. I usually went four times every week from morning till noon. The arts are so much fun when you love something you do, so I was pretty happy with that.

Looking for Jerry, I asked my permission to go and took my bag from my desk chair, and grabbed my trench so I can threw it on myself to go outside to the nearest cafe.

Paying for my meal which included fried potatoes, steamed vegetables and delicious roast chicken with my favorite caramel flavor latte, the seller lady smiled at me.

''Enjoy your meal, sweetheart,'' to which I happily nodded and thanked her.

Taking a seat in my favorite spot where the soft sofas were, near the windows, I was ready to dig in. I couldn't even have my first bite when suddenly there were screams everywhere and loud explosion in the cafe. Glass shattering, I dropped my fork from the shock and noise. It fell on the table and rolled to the ground with a noise. Looking for the cause, I saw five men with masks and guns entering now the torn cafe.

I know that I had to move or run away from that horrible scene so I could live longer because I knew if I don't, they will kill all people in there. But I wasn't able to move. I felt like I became I statue and my toes were numb from the fear.

Somehow I did move, but only when I overheard them saying , 'That's the one. Go get her,' while all of them looked at me with the guns in their hands pointing at me.

What the f**k is happening?

Jumping out from my chair, I was able to avoid a shot that would have hit me if I hadn't jumped aside, but there was no time to think so I rushed to the kitchen, the entrance which was for the staff. Knowing full well that I could get out on that side, I speeded up, but I knew they were right behind me.

They're trying to kill me and I didn't even know why.

Someone behind me screamed and something crashed, like plates being thrown on the ground but I didn't have the time to watch what is happening because my life was on the line here. Along the way I saw a food trolley so I pushed it right in their way so I have a longer time to escape. Making a exit, I ran outside, completely out of breath only to collide with much bigger body. Thinking it is one of them, I started screaming and kicking but he grabbed me tightly and closed my mouth with his hand to silence me and dragged me to the side behind the trash cans and made us lean down so that we are no longer visible to the others who were gaining already on my trail. 

''Shh, I am not the enemy here. I am here to help you,'' breathing in my ear, I felt sparks on my skin where his lips are touching me. Realization dawned on me when I remember where that familiar voice is coming from. Slowly turning my head around, the first I saw was glowing yellow eyes staring back at me and then looking closely under his hood, I recognized him immediately.

''You?'' I was surprised. It was the unknown man from that night when I saved him.

His smirk was all I needed to know but his serious voice made me shiver ,'' Yes, its me, kitten. Now don't scream and don't move,'' waiting for my submission, I nodded even not knowing why I am agreeing with him.

''Good girl,'' smiling in approval, he let me go and stood up. It was only then I heard 'them'.

''Where did she go?'' One of them asked.

''I don't know. Her scent is still close but there is another one. Much stronger.''

Scent? What are they talking about?

My stranger then decided to leave our secret place, making himself known.

''Guys, guys, guys. Long time no see, '' he grinned, putting on a leather glove on his hand, which had been taken off before, now standing up with both gloved hands.

The five men moved back from the shock, still with guns in their hands but the leader who I assumed was, sneered in anger.

''Noah. I knew you would be here somewhere. Every time you intervene in my business I don't like it so I will ask this only once - Where is the girl? Where did you hide her?''

It was silent for awhile and I feared the worst but then the stranger spoke up.

''I don't know what girl, Logan. You must be mistaken.''

I flinched when I heard the guy Logan roar in anger,'' Don't lie to me! I can smell her and if I have to stop you to get her, then I will.''

The man chuckled in response,'' Well then. Its to bad, isn't it? You're damn fool because I wanna see you try,'' peeking from the side so I can see better, my eyes wide I watched the five men in a blur bones crashing transform in big large wolves.

They snarled and growled, all together and started running at my stranger. I think I was in big shock from what I am seeing because it couldn't be real. I wanted to warn him so he wouldn't get hurt but then his own body doubled over in much much larger wolf form. I think I was hallucinating because my stranger's wolf was the same black and white like from my dream.

I wanted to run away, scream for help but dark spots started block my vision and I passed out cold.
