Marked by the Alpha
Pain shot through Selene’s body the moment Damian’s teeth sank into her neck.
A searing heat spread through her veins, burning like fire. She gasped, her body instinctively jerking under him, but he didn’t let go.
His hold was firm, unyielding.
Selene’s vision blurred for a moment, her heartbeat thundering in her ears.
Then, just as suddenly as it started—Damian pulled away.
Warm breath ghosted over her now-sensitive skin. The mark throbbed, pulsing with the undeniable bond of an Alpha’s claim.
Selene lay frozen beneath him, her chest rising and falling with ragged breaths. She could feel it.
The connection.
It was faint but there—a tether between them now formed.
And she hated it.
“You bastard,” she whispered, her voice hoarse.
Damian smirked, his golden eyes gleaming in the darkness. “You left me no choice.”
His body was still pressed against hers, radiating heat. Every inch of him screamed dominance, possession.
Selene gritted her teeth, shoving against his chest.
“Get off me.”
For a second, Damian didn’t move. His sharp gaze studied her as if trying to read every thought running through her head.
Then, finally, he pushed himself off her and stood, towering over her like a dark god.
Selene struggled to her feet, her entire body trembling. Not from fear—but from the bond trying to settle within her.
She forced herself to ignore it.
Her fingers brushed against the wound on her neck, now slowly healing. It didn’t matter.
The damage was done.
She was marked.
A Silent Challenge
Damian crossed his arms over his bare chest, watching her with unreadable eyes.
“Running was a mistake, Selene,” he said, his voice calm but laced with warning. “You should know by now—you can’t escape me.”
Selene’s nails dug into her palms.
She refused to let him see her break.
So, instead, she lifted her chin and met his gaze head-on.
“I may be marked, but I will never be yours,” she spat.
A slow, dark chuckle escaped him. “We’ll see about that.”
The tension between them crackled like a live wire.
Then, before Selene could react, Damian grabbed her wrist.
A shock ran up her arm from the contact—the bond’s effect growing stronger.
She yanked away, but he didn’t let go.
“You belong to me now, Selene,” Damian murmured. His voice was deceptively soft, but the authority in it was absolute. “And you’ll fulfill your role as my Luna.”
Selene’s blood boiled.
She didn’t want to be anyone’s anything.
And she sure as hell didn’t want to be his Luna.
Before she could respond, a new voice cut through the tension.
“Well, well. Looks like the little rogue finally got what she deserved.”
A New Enemy
Selene turned just in time to see Cassandra Winters stepping out from the trees, her arms crossed over her chest.
The Beta’s icy blue eyes flickered to the mark on Selene’s neck, a smirk curling at her lips.
“You really had to force her, Damian?” Cassandra taunted. “She doesn’t look happy.”
Selene’s jaw tightened. She didn’t know much about Cassandra, but she already hated her.
Everything about the woman screamed superiority.
Damian shot Cassandra a sharp look. “Stay out of this.”
Cassandra’s smirk widened. “Oh, come on. You know the pack will talk. A rogue as Luna? A woman who doesn’t even want to be here?” She let out a mocking laugh. “It’s pathetic.”
Selene clenched her fists.
She had no interest in being Luna, but she would not be mocked.
“You sure have a lot to say for someone who wasn’t chosen,” Selene said coolly.
Cassandra’s smirk faltered.
For a brief second, something dark flashed in before her eyes.
Then—she smiled.
“You have no idea what you’ve gotten yourself into, rogue,” Cassandra whispered, stepping closer. “You think being Damian’s mate will protect you? It won’t. This pack will never accept you.”
Selene held her ground. “Then let them try me.”
Their eyes locked—a silent battle of wills.
Then, just as quickly as she appeared, Cassandra turned away with an amused hum.
“Well, this should be fun.” She cast one last glance at Damian. “You better keep her on a leash, Alpha. Wouldn’t want her running away again.”
And with that, she disappeared into the darkness.
The Reality of the Bond
Selene exhaled sharply, her entire body thrumming with frustration.
Damian rubbed his temple. “You just had to provoke her.”
Selene crossed her arms. “She started it.”
Damian sighed, stepping closer.
The moment he did, Selene felt it—the bond tugging at her.
She fought against it, but the pull was relentless. Annoying.
“I need you to understand something, Selene,” Damian said quietly. “You are no longer a rogue. You are my mate—my Luna. That means my pack is now your pack. And I expect you to act like it.”
Selene’s stomach twisted.
She never wanted a pack.
She never wanted a mate.
And yet, here she was.
“I didn’t ask for this,” she muttered.
Damian’s gaze softened—just for a second.
“I know,” he admitted. “But it’s done.”
Selene swallowed hard.
She had no choice now.
No freedom.
No escape.
She was bound to him.
Cliffhanger: An Unwanted Welcome
Before Selene could respond, a low growl echoed in the distance.
Then another.
And another.
Selene stiffened.
From the shadows of the trees, wolves emerged.
One by one, they stepped forward, their glowing eyes locked onto her.
Selene’s heart pounded.
She didn’t need to ask what this was.
The pack was here.
And from the looks of it—
They weren’t happy to see her.
