The midnight talk

By the time Matt and I got home, it was almost midnight. We changed our clothes, I took a long blue t-shirt that Matt gave me and we opened a bottle of wine while we planted ourselves on the couch in the living room. The light from the fireplace was the only light in room.
Matt was the one that killed the silence, "So, wanna tell me what happened?" he said while taking a sip from his glass of wine.
I told him about all that happened in the bathroom at the event, remembering every touch and every feeling I had during that moment.
"I really don't understand you." he said "Why are you so sad about all that happened? He is a charming man and he wants you. Why are you so mad about this?" he said after listening to my complaining about Jack's attitude.
"I am mad because... well... because he was the one that broke me all those years ago!" I yelled.
Matt was petrified when he heard my confession. Because, even if Matt knew my secrets, I have never told him who was that man that broke me into pieces and now I just exploded and told him. My vision got blurred and I was about to start crying when he pulled me in his arms and said, "Don't you dare to cry! I am here and I am never let him hurt you again! So, now is the moment that we need to think of our next move. Do you want him to pay for what he did to you?"
"No! Matt, I just want him to leave me alone. I wanna move forward with my life even if I am broken for any other man, but I wanna try. So please, let's keep all this between us. One day I will tell you everything that happened, but now I just need you to hold me." I whispered.
"I am here sweets, for anything you need."
"You know? I think that Lorely was very proud to have you as her dad." I said.
"I was the lucky one Bella. I would have given her the world and she would have been the child I will never have. I was her father even if not legally, but I was her dad for 1 year."
"I know how much you wanted to adopt her, you have treated her as your own since the moment you found out I was pregnant with her and I am very thankful to you for that." and I started crying remembering my dead daughter and her beautiful black eyes.
"I will never stop searching for the culprit, sweets. I swear to you! I will kill the person guilty for our lost with my own hands." he said sobbing.
The next morning as soon as I woke up I went to the kitchen to prepare my favorite breakfast, omelet with mushrooms and bacon and freshly made orange juice. As I was cooking Matt came in the kitchen and said, "I knew I would find you here."
I turned around and faced him "You know, last night, I had a dream, and in my dream our Lorely said that she would like to stay here forever."
"I think that is a brilliant idea. I could build a mini-house just by the like and we can put her ashes there to rest forever. What do you think?"
"I think that you are a wonderful person, Matt. And I think that she would love that." I said while offering him a reassuring smile.
After breakfast we went to the store to buy everything we needed in order to build the mini-house and the sanctuary that my daughter will be resting forever. I also bought some toys that she would have loved and ordered the very rare blue roses that she loved. After the shopping session we went to the house by the lake, left everything there and went to my parents house.
"Hello mom, we are here." I said while entering the house.
"Hello sweetheart, I am so glad that you came to have launch with us" she said.
"With us?" I asked confused "Who is coming to launch?"
"Oh, Ethan and Jules are joining us today." she said and left to the kitchen.
I looked at Matt and he smiled, "Okay, I am going to take a shower and change. See you in the living room in 20 minutes." I said while heading upstairs.
I took a shower, brushed my hair and put on a summer dress. As I was about to go downstairs I heard a knocking at my door. "Yeah, come in!"
"Hello bestie!" I hear Jules saying "Do I have to prepare myself for becoming a godmother?" she asked.
"What are you talking about, Jules?" I asked shocked.
"Do you remember Miss. Watson?"
Miss Watson was the old lady that was gossiping about everyone and everything. She always knew about other people business and don't ask me how, because I never found out how she managed to know everything.
"Yeah I remember her. But still I don't get you question." I answered.
"Well, she told me that she saw you today with a handsome guy and you were buying toys for kids. So I assumed that maybe you were with that Ethan guy and that you are pregnant and that is why he came to our city." she said smiling.
"Oh, no Jules. I am not pregnant and I was with Matt today. Ethan and I never had any romantic history." I said blushing.
"Okay, maybe you did not have. But I am certain that he would very much like to have something with you."
"Don't be ridiculous, he is only acting like this because I am his brother best friend." I said laughing.
"I think you are blind my dear. He definitely is head over heals in loved with you and the only person that doesn't notice this is you. Okay, now is time to go, I am starving." she said and went out of the room.
Was it possible that Ethan was in loved with me? I was completely lost thinking about this, while I went to the have launch with all of them.
After launch, Ethan approached me and invited me to have dinner with him on Friday. I had no idea what to answer as I so Matt smiling and giving me a wink so I just agreed. I gave him my number so we could get in touch and plan accordingly.
