BLURB

Chloe Daniel has learned to survive in silence. An orphan raised by her ailing grandmother, she works grueling shifts at Mama's Diner to afford diabetes medication and keep a roof over their heads. But beneath her quiet exterior lies a dangerous secret: a story she wrote years ago about a near-fatal accident she witnessed. A story that could destroy lives.

Xander Smith is New York's golden boy, a world-renowned chef, billionaire restaurateur, and the city's most eligible bachelor. But he's haunted by fragments of a night he can't fully remember, and obsessed with finding the mysterious girl who saved his life. When he tracks down Chloe and offers her one hundred million dollars for a two-year contract marriage, he expects compliance. Instead, she throws his money back in his face.

But desperation has a way of rewriting destiny. When Chloe's grandmother falls gravely ill, she's forced to accept Xander's deal. What begins as a transaction slowly transforms into something neither of them expected: real love. Yet lurking in the shadows is Aliyah Scott, Xander's childhood best friend whose obsession knows no bounds. She was there the night of the accident. She knows what Chloe witnessed. And she'll do anything to silence the truth.

As Chloe's past collides with her present, she must decide whether to keep her story buried or let it surface, even if it means losing everything she's fought to protect. Because some truths, once written, can never be erased.

Chapter1
Chloe Daniel POV "I swear there needs to be a law against teachers who can't teach but still have the nerve to give assignments," I said out loud to absolutely nobody, kicking a random pebble on the sidewalk. "Like how the hell am I supposed to answer questions about something he never even explained? Lazy ass Mr. Shawn." I rolled my eyes so hard they could've fallen out of my head. "It's not even that hard to teach English. Even kindergarten kids could do a better job." That man pissed me the f**k off. I was still muttering curses under my breath when a voice cut through the quiet street. "What the f**k do you mean you want to break up?" My head snapped up so fast I almost gave myself whiplash. About twenty feet ahead, a girl who looked like she walked straight out of a magazine cover was standing in front of a guy who could easily be a model. They were going at it, well, she was going at it while he just stood there looking bored as hell. My nosy ass couldn't help itself. I mean, who could resist free drama? I quickly ducked behind this huge tree, peeking around it like I was in some spy movie. "This relationship is way too toxic for me," the guy said, his voice flat and tired. "Your jealousy and obsession, are getting out of hand. Like way out of hand." "You can't leave me!" The girl's voice went up about ten octaves. "I won't accept it, do you hear me?" "Jesus, is she trying to burst my eardrums?" I whispered, covering one ear. The guy let out this long, exhausted sigh. "I literally told you from the beginning that us dating was a bad idea, remember? But you insisted. You begged me, actually. You promised nothing like this would happen, that we could make it work, that you wouldn't get all crazy." "Don't you dare call me crazy!" "But look at us now," he continued, ignoring her outburst. "Look at what this has become. I'm done, completely done. You're messing with my mental health in ways I can't even explain. It's like you're suffocating me and everything around me. I can't think straight anymore. My grades are dropping like crazy, and my friends are literally avoiding me. I'm losing my whole life, all because of you." "How f*****g dare you blame me for your problems!" She started hitting his chest with both fists, her face twisted up in rage. He caught her wrists gently but firmly. "I'm not doing this anymore. We're done." "No, we're not!" "Yes," he pulled away from her, "we are." He turned and started walking away. That must've been the wrong move because the girl's face completely changed. Like I'm talking full-on psycho mode activated. "Fine!" she screamed, her voice cracking. "If I can't have you, then nobody will, you hear me? Nobody!" Before he could even turn around, she ran back to her car, this sleek black Mercedes, and jumped in. The engine roared to life, and she peeled out so fast the tires screeched. The guy just stood there at the edge of the road, watching her drive away like he was relieved it was over. Then he turned and started walking across to this gorgeous white Porsche that was parked on the other side. "Finally, the drama's over," I laughed quietly to myself, getting ready to leave. "That was better than any reality TV show." But I should've kept my mouth shut because what happened next made my blood run cold. The black Mercedes came speeding back down the road, going way too fast for a residential area. "What the hell is she doing?" I muttered, my stomach dropping. Everything happened so fast I could barely process it. One second he was walking toward his car, probably thinking about what he was gonna do with his newfound freedom. The next second, she swerved right at him and hit him so hard he flew like a ragdoll before crashing onto the pavement. "Oh my god!" His body went completely limp. Blood started pooling around his head, spreading across the concrete like spilled paint. The girl stopped her car and just sat there, staring at what she'd done. And then, I swear to god, she smiled. This sadistic, evil smile made my skin crawl. "She's f*****g crazy!" I screamed into my hands, my whole body shaking. The sound must've carried because her head whipped around, scanning the area like a predator looking for witnesses. "s**t, s**t, s**t," I ducked lower behind the tree, pressing my back against the bark. "Please don't see me, please don't see me, I'm too young to die, I have too much life to live." But luck definitely wasn't on my side today because our eyes locked. Fear flashed across her face for just a second before her expression went cold. She threw the car in reverse and sped off, tires squealing against the asphalt. I stayed frozen behind that tree for what felt like forever, my heart hammering so hard I thought it might explode. When I was sure she wasn't coming back, I forced my legs to move. "Okay, okay, you can do this," I told myself, stumbling over to where he was lying. I dropped to my knees beside him, my hands shaking so bad I could barely control them. "Hey, hey, can you hear me?" I tapped his shoulder, then his cheek. "Please wake up, please." Nothing. "Come on, don't do this," my voice cracked as I tapped him harder. "Wake up, you have to wake up." Still nothing. The blood was everywhere now, staining my jeans where I was kneeling. I bent down, putting my ear close to his mouth, trying to hear if he was breathing. The world went completely silent except for the sound of my own panicked breathing. "Is he..." My eyes went wide, fear crushing my chest like a vice. "Oh god, is he..."
