--Cassidy POV Continued--
Beth returns from my kitchen with a cup of tea and hands it to me before sitting on the sofa next to me. I take a sip, enjoying as the warm liquid seems to relax my nerves. She watches me, silently and I know that she wants to say something.
"I left him." She finally says, and all the air feels as though it's been sucked out of the room. "When you ran out of the room, he tried to come up with a bullshit story, but I saw right through it..finally." I hear Beth's voice break, and I place my hand on her leg. She inhales, calming herself. "I told him that I wanted a divorce and that he had better be out of the house by the time I got home....I-I tried to call you a few times to tell you, but when you didn't answer, I figured you hated me for not being there when you truly needed. " She inhales sharply. "I-I didn't know Cassidy, I swear I didn't know." Tears begin to form in Beth's eyes again, and I feel my heartache. She had been trying to reach me. To tell me that she believed me, that she was by my side. "I'm sorry Beth. I should have had more faith in you." I tell her quietly looking down. "I just-I just was so scared that day...he was so close to-." My sentence stops short. Beth takes the tea from my hand and put it on the table. Grabbing my hands in hers she says, "I saw that fear Cassidy. I knew when I saw that fear." She shakes my hands and I feel the tears beginning to form again. "I won't pressure you to file charges, but I need you to know that if you decide to...I'll be right there in your corner." I hug Beth hard, and let out a deep sigh, slowly feeling the heavyweight I'd been carrying around lift.
"Auntie Beth." I hear Addeline voice from the corner of the room. She runs and jumps on the couch causing Beth and I to tearfully laugh. "Are you and mommy okay?" She asks, wrapping her arms around Beth's torso, but looking at me the entire time. "Yes, we're better than ever." I respond, relishing in the fact that I meant every word.
"Good because you both are crying and I was worried."
"Where did you learn such a big word?" Beth muses, running her hand over Addeline's hair.
"From Mic-"
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK, a swift rap on the door stops Addeline sentence. "Shoot! I forgot Andrea was coming to get Addeline." I say getting up from the sofa. "WHAT?!" Beth almost shrieks while fixing herself. I go to the door and open it.
"Sorry Andrea, can you give me a second?"
"Sure...you okay?" Andrea asks me, using her thumb to outline the stains on my face left by my tears, "Yes Yes much better now...Beth and I were just having a moment." I laugh tiredly. "Beth's here?" Andrea responds, her eyes widening a bit.
"Yeah come in and keep her company while I take Addeline to finish getting ready. " Andrea comes in and shuts the door behind her. "Hey, Princess." She says, picking up a smiling Addeline. She faces Beth and smiles at her. "Hey..it's nice to see you again." She says tucking a small piece of hair behind her ear. "I-It's nice to see you again too." Beth stammers. I take Addeline from Andrea's arms.
"Come on Bug a Boo, don't want to keep Auntie Andrea waiting."
"No worries take all the time you need." Andrea responds without looking at me, her eyes locked on Beth shifting in her seat. I smirk, trying to hide my smile. "Will do" I say, taking Addeline with me, to give the two a moment alone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I would really love that." I hear Andrea say to Beth as Addeline and I return bag in tow.
"Okay, I'll call you."
"Call her about what?" I say interrupting the two. Beth's face turns about as red as a tomato, and Andrea shifts her weight from one foot onto the other. "Nothing nothing." Andrea says finally, cutting her eyes quickly at Beth in hopes that I didn't notice. "Shall we get going, princess?" Andrea says, picking up Addeline. It's clear that she wants to change the subject and as much as I'm enjoying teasing them, I know when to leave good well enough along. "Wait I gotta give mommy a hug." Addeline says reaching for me. I embrace her tightly. "I will see you tomorrow." I say to her, and she smiles into my hair. "Okay, mommy." She says, lingering onto me just a little longer. "I'll walk out with you both. Cassidy, please call me when you get back." Beth hugs me tightly. "Please call me. Please. I want to be there for you." She says in a low voice, making sure I'm the only one who can hear her. I quickly nod my head, okay, and after some time she lets go. All three smile and wave at me one more time before exiting, leaving me alone with my thoughts once more. I walk to my bedroom, and sit at the vanity, picking up the black hair dye that's in front of me. "I'm not doing it." I mutter to myself before throwing the bottle into the trash. If Mark wants me there, he's going to get the real, all of me, and if he wasn't happy well that's too damn bad. I smile to myself in the mirror. "Well, we can do something about this puffiness though." I say examining my eyes.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
"Knowing Beth she forgot something." I laugh to myself while getting up and walking to the door.
"What did you for-"
"Hello, Cassidy...are we all alone?" Daniel stares at me smiling menacingly, and I feel my blood go cold.
"Of course you are, I've been watching." He answers his own question, never once taking his eyes off me. "You really thought that I was done with you? After everything you just took from me? After you turned my own wife against me?" I grab the nob and swing the door trying to close it, but he stops me, pushing his way in. The door hits my face on contact, and I fall backward. The pain is unbearable and I feel my ears begin to ring. Blood pours from my nose, and I watch in horror as Daniel shuts the door behind him. "You should have just given me what I wanted." He walks towards me. "If you would have, you would have been fine." He kicks me in my stomach, and I instantly ball up from the pain. "But no, you had to be the typical Black b***h, and make everything harder than it is." He kicks me again, and this time I feel the blood pool in my mouth. "Pl-ease" I try to beg, he smiles in return. "Oh no, we're way past pleasantries." He says to me before straddling my body. I wiggle against him, but his weight easily overpowers my small frame. "This could have been so pleasurable for you. " Beads of sweat form on Daniel's head and begin to slowly drop on my face. "But now." He says, grabbing my face forcing me to look at him. "Now...I'm going to f**k you until you beg me to kill you instead."
"DON'T DO THIS DANIEL PLEASE DON'T!"
Daniel slaps me hard across the face. The room begins to spin, blurring my pictures on the wall. I look at the one of Addeline and I want to cry. She's smiling, her arms in the air as I push her on the swing at the park. Daniel reaches into this back pocket, and then the feeling of cold metal slides across my neck. My eyes widen at the realization that he's holding a knife. "I'm only going to tell you one time, shut the hell up." He takes his other hand and tugs at my shirt, forcing it to open, and I hear the buttons hit the floor. I trace the destination of one with my eyes. Daniel pulls my breast from my bra and takes one in his mouth. Hot tears slid down my cheeks, as I continue to stare at the shirt button under the table.
Let me out
A voice rumbles inside of me. I close my eyes.
You need to let me out
The voice states again, this time angrier, more authoritative. Daniel jams his hands down my pants. "You're p***y felt so good on my finger last time." He says and I want to vomit. I open my eyes and try to gather my sight, but the room makes no sense. It's spinning faster than before and I can hardly keep up. please, I hear myself cry internally. Please..I-I don't want to die.
LET ME THE f**k OUT
The voice screams to me. "Whoever you are." I hear myself say. "Please...please help me." The room spins faster and faster, taking any perception I had with me. "Are you not enjoying this Cassidy?" Daniel laughs. The air in the room is thick, and it no longer feels that I have control of my body. "She won't be the only one." I hear a voice say from my body. Daniel looks up at me, and a look of horror spreads across his face. "Wh-what the fu-" "GET OFF OF US!" The voice explodes from me before my fist connects with Daniel's stomach, and a mixture of spit and vomit escapes his mouth. Daniel balls up in pain and rolls off of me. I can't control my body, and I watch from what feels like the sidelines, myself stand and pick Daniel off of his feet. "What are you?" He says to me, but I can't respond and instead, I hear the voice again, "We are one." it growls before using my body to launch Daniel across the living room. His head collides face-first from the edge of the counter, and his body immediately drops to the ground. Blood pools from his head into a deep red ring onto the hardwood, and I stare at it in disbelief. Was he dead? I feel my body stumble, and pain shoots through me again as I regain control of myself. "WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME?" I cry out and grip the couch. My legs begin to shake.
Remember
The voice says to me as I drop to my knees. A burning sensation ignites my right arm causing me to lose the remaining balance I hand, and I crumble to the floor once more.
Miccoli...help me
The room continues to spin, and I open my mouth, but no sound is produced. I lay and allow exhaustion to take over me, attempting one more time to speak, the pain too much to bear.
"MICCOLI!" I scream as loud as I can before closing my eyes, succumbing to the darkness.
