I woke up and Conner was sitting beside me on a chair.
" Conner. " I touch my neck. " What happened. " I say weakly.
" You're awake. " He gets up and sits on my bed. " Victors sister bit you and released venom, and he had to get it out. "
" I'm really hungry. "
He chuckles. " Yea, you lost a lot of blood so you're gonna be hungry, I'll get you something. "
He gets up and walks out of the room. I sit up and I get really dizzy. I sit there and rub my neck. I sit for a few minutes and my door squeaks open. I look over and see the girl from earlier.
" I'm sorry, Conner told Victor you were awake, and I wanted to see if you were alright. "
" I'm fine, just dizzy and hungry. " I smile.
She looks like she's about to cry again. " I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bite you, I just awakened and and I couldn't control myself. "
" It's fine, when werewolves shift for the first time they can have a violent outburst. "
" Really? Wait, you aren't mad or anything. "
I shake my head. " Nope, it wasn't your fault really. Conner and Victor will be salty for awhile, just ignore them okay. "
She nods
" What are you doing down here. " Victor yells.
" I'm sorry, I wanted to see if she was okay. " She stammers
" You shouldn't be down here, you almost killed her. "
" I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. "
He sighs. " Just go upstairs. "
" I'm sorry. " She says as she bolts away.
" Why are you mean to her. "
He sighs. " I'm not mean. "
I scoff. " Really. You've made her cry, how many times now. "
He sighs again. " It's not safe for her to be here. "
" Is it not safe for her, or not safe for anyone else. "
" She was on the verge of awakening when I left, I didn't think it would happen that fast, I didn't even think she would follow me. "
I sigh. " One thing that sucks about this, is that I read her mind by accident. Why are you avoiding her. "
He sits down on the chair. " You need special training to help with those that just awakened, one wrong move and they can become. " He sighs. " They can become uncontrollable and bloodthirsty, I've had it happen before. We had the kill them. "
" I'm sorry. "
" I don't want the same thing to happen her. "
" Being distant isn't gonna help, It might do the opposite. Why do you think she came all the way here. "
" She's a half-blood, half human half vampire. My step-mom had her a year after my mom died. My siblings don't care for her much, or her mother, even my dad regrets having her. " He scoffs. " He said it was a moment of weakness and that he immediately regretted it, but had to take them in. I'm the oldest of my siblings and none of them have spent much time with humans. "
" She's scared that you're gonna reject her like they did. "
" I don't want what happened to my mate, to happen to her. "
" What. It was your mate. "
" Yea. It was 145 years ago, I haven't forgotten the day. I remember when she came to the clan, her mother saw signs of her awakening, and as soon as she did. " He smiles. " I knew. I knew she was my mate. I had training and have helped those awakening and I thought I could do it. " He starts to look sad. " I don't know what happened. She just disappeared, and we got word of attacks in the city, and it was her. We had to kill her. "
" I'm sorry Victor, but it could happen to anyway. They aren't helping her, at all. "
" I just don't want it to happen again. "
" I know but sitting here and ignoring her, isn't helping. "
He sighs. " I know. I'm just scared, I don't want to lose anyone else. "
" You're gonna gonna lose her anyway if you keep treating her like that. "
He sighs deeply. " I know. I just. I just can't. "
" Just stay by her side. "
He smiles at me. " I'll try. "
We hear a knock on the door.
" Whatcha guys talking about. " Conner says, entering with a plate of food
" Nothin, just his sister. " I say.
" Yea, shes upstairs crying. Again. " Conner says.
Victor sighs. " I'll go talk to her. "
Victor gets up and leaves.
" Here. You eat. " Conner says as he puts a plate of fruits and veggies.
" Thanks. "
He smiles and I start eating.
" Do you want your birthday present now. "
" What. Why is everyone giving my birthday presents early. " I gasp sarcastically. " Am I dying. "
Conner laughs. " Shut up. No, I'm have been mean to you, but it's not your fault, something just happened is all. "

" Can't tell you, sorry. "
" Whatever then. "
" I'll go grab them. "
" Oh, them. " I say excited.
He chuckles. " I'll be right back. "
He gets up and leave, I just sit there eating. He comes back with 4 wrapped presents.
" Here you go. " He says, handing them to me
" What are they. "
" Open them. "
I give him the plate and start opening the gifts.
" Books. " I say surprised.
" Yep. I looked long and hard for those books. I know you don't know much about witches, so I got books that could somewhat help. "
I smile. " Thank you. "
I look at the books, History of potions, Spells of nature and elements, Bond of familiars and witches/warlocks, the last book looks really old and fragile.
" That one took awhile, and only witches can open it. "
" Ancient curses and legends. " I read out loud.
" I don't know how you open it, but only witches can. That one took awhile, that's why I was so busy. "
I grab the book and look at it closely. " Fascinating. "
" I knew you would like it. " He smiles.
He ruffles my hair. " I'm gonna leave you to it, get some rest okay. "
" Okay. "
He puts the plate of food on my nightstand and leaves. As soon as he closes my door, I start trying to open the book.
