Chapter three

1501 Words
Jayden; Liam had left earlier for some kinda emergency and I was left alone. I decided that I needed a distraction, something to keep me from thinking about what my grandfather had done. I glanced around the bar, wondering if everyone here also had problems like me. My eyes went to the young lady sitting alone. Her eyes were a bit sad as she took slow shots. She was also glancing around the club and I wondered if we were thinking about the same thing. Perhaps she was also sad about something. I suddenly had the urge to talk to her and I stood up and walked gingerly to her table. "Hey," she was startled and didn't say anything and I sat down. "I want to keep you company," I said and she nodded, without a word. I got a good look at her face and damn! She was beautiful! The most beautiful woman I had ever seen. She had big brown doe eyes and pink rosy lips that looked inviting. At that instant, all I wanted to do was to capture her lips with mine. She seemed to have gotten tipsy as she flashed me a seductive smile. I was half drunk too as I didn't realize that I had smiled too and moved closer to her. "Should we get out of here?" She nodded, a wide grin plastered on her face and my smile widened. I led her out of the bar to the hotel across and in no time, our clothes were discarded as our bodies merged together. When I woke up from the hotel room, I could not find her anymore and I felt sad, realizing that she had already left. I berated myself for not even knowing anything about her. I didn't even know her name! I began to wonder why she had left so soon, was it that she regretted it or she didn't like me? There was just something special about her that I couldn't quite place. The shrill ring of my phone broke my chain of thoughts and I sighed as I picked it up, getting out of bed. "Mr. Tyrell—the applicants are already here—we're all waiting for you." I scrunch my face in confusion. It was my secretary, Elaine and I wondered what she was talking about. "What Applicants?" I groaned as a painful headache tore through my skull. I must've drank a whole lot the night before. It was then that realization dawned on me. Today was the day I was supposed to interview the applicants for the post of my personal assistant. My last personal assistant was fired after making several advances towards me and I've been without one for a while. I needed to find one urgently and I wanted to interview them personally. I must've forgotten about it because of everything with my late grandfather and I sighed as I glanced at the time. It was 11:48 am and the interview was scheduled to be held by 9:30. I was already late and there was no way I was going to interview anyone with this horrible hangover. "The—" "I'm sorry, Elaine. Something urgent came up and I don't feel so good, so you do the interview yourself," I said, knowing that rescheduling the interview would be a waste of time on both my end and that of the applicants. "Alright, sir." She said and disconnected the call. I found a note on the table and after reading it, I smiled. She was a funny one. I got out of the hotel room and drove quickly to my house. I was tempted to call my grandmother as she had called me several times but I thought against it. I didn't want to hear her preach to me. I quickly dressed up took the hangover soup that I had ordered the maid to prepare earlier and drove off to the office. Elaine was about to interview the last applicant and I was about to head back to my office when I saw who it was. It was her, the woman from last night. Her name was Rose and I thought it suited her. An idea hit me and I smiled. It was a way to kill two birds with one stone. I had never been interested in any woman or thought about any woman the way I had been thinking about her. It could be an infatuation or just pure lust. "I am hiring you to become my wife," I said in a serious tone and her eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. "Just for a year—and of course you'll be handsomely rewarded," I said again as she continued staring at me in shock. From her outfit, it was clear that she wasn't rich. She must be really poor, I thought. She suddenly burst out laughing and I glared at her. "I'm serious here. Your job is to be my wife for a year. You will live with me, bear my surname and we will attend every event together. If you don't want a wedding, we can just get a marriage certificate." I didn't want to mention the part about the baby so soon as I felt that she would never agree to that. I'll gradually tell her about that. "Why do you think I would accept to do something like that? That is deceit! It's just so wrong!" She complained and I scoffed. "Do you know how many people would jump at this opportunity thrown to you right now?" I shook my head. "Don't be ungrateful and just think about this. We can also discuss the terms In Case there is something that you're not comfortable with." "No, no, and No. this is just—" She was still talking when I interrupted her. "Ms. Hill, if you won't accept the offer, then you might as well leave. There is no point in wasting my time and yours by telling me what is wrong and what is not!" I said in a harsh tone. I wanted to remind her that this was a rare opportunity and that she would miss out on this if she left. To my surprise, she thanked me and grabbed her folders as she walked out of the room. I opened my mouth to speak but clamped it shut. I would find another way to get her. Just then, my grandmother called again and I sighed as I picked up the phone. "Grandma—" "You ungrateful Man! You want everything we have worked for in this family to go to waste—" I rubbed my forehead. I knew my grandmother well, she would not just let me be. She would talk about this incident until I was forced to take one of the women she randomly pushed me. "Grandma calm down—" "Don't tell me to calm down! How can I be calm when you have decided to bring shame to the family!" She exclaimed and I heard her sobbing from the other end of the line. My grandmother was that dramatic. "Ma—please listen to me. I was wrong to say all those things I said yesterday. I was just angry about what Grandpa did. And I didn't mean what I said when I told you that I was lying. I actually do have a girlfriend and I will bring her to you soon," I explained and she was silent for a while before she spoke. "I hope you're not lying to me this time around?" "Not at all. I promise you ma," I said and she exclaimed happily. After ending the call, I called Diego. "I want you to find everything you can on someone. A woman named Rose Hill. She just left this office, she came as one of the applicants for the job of personal assistant." "Noted boss." He answered. Not long after, he called back. Diego was that effective. "Boss, I have checked. She's the first daughter of Terrence Hill. Terrence Hill of Terryco. She's estranged from her family as her mother's mate and he remarried another woman who doesn't treat her well. She recently got dumped—-some videos on social media, it was a messy breakup. And well—she lives in a trailer pack which she would soon lose due to late payment." He explained and as he ended the call, I watched the video he was talking about and I clenched my fist tightly. It was a lot to take in. I knew Terrence Hill, he was one of our business partners but I could never guess that she was his daughter. She looked so—poor. She had indeed gone through a lot and I was going to change that. I knew exactly what I needed to do. He had sent me her address and tomorrow, I will pay Rose Hill a visit and make her an offer she could not resist.
