Chapter Thirty-One The sun was setting but the desert air still held the heat of the day. They sat together at a café table on the deck and enjoyed the evening breeze under a colorful awning. The restaurant was named VaGus and run by a Venezuelan woman. When she spotted Connie, she came to the table and chatted amiably in Spanish. Connie introduced her. The woman’s name was Sobeida and by the size of the woman’s girth, Taz counted on an excellent meal. A waiter was immediately at Sobeida’s side and Connie ordered Zulia, Venezuelan beer for herself, and white wine for Taz.
